I watered the plants and loaded the pictures for today's post,
then in a classic case of 'the computer says no' my computer stopped with a message appearing so fast I could barely read it, but the screen went blue with white writing, something about start in safe mode, 4 times I started it, 4 times the same message, so I am now using Diana's laptop, so I will go straight on with yesterdays post, what is it with me and electrics? first thing we picked up Nick and Maureen and made our way to the plant nursery along Soi Siam Country Club Road,
some of the staff were re-potting a few palms,
we had a look around the the plants for sale,
when I noticed these, one of which was in flower,
it almost seems strange to think it is a close relative of the banana,
truck loaded and we were off to the lake,
there were a few other people already fishing when we arrived, the skies looked a little cloudy,
but hopefully the rain would hold off,
we had to use the hut nearest the lotus planted part of the pond as all of the other fishing huts were being used,
I just had to try out the now repaired camera in panorama mode,
for this week Nick had baked some shortbread which was delicious,
but the girls were waiting for us to catch the first fish for breakfast,
and they did not have to wait long as Nick was soon into one,
a help with the net,
and the fish was on the bank,
unhooked,
and in the pan,
which brought the lakes cats to our table, 'food please',
'food please'
I said 'Food Please!!!',
a tail between Mum and kitten,
the skies started to look a little ominous,
then the rain started,
for 10 minutes or so,
until the skies started to clear,
and the next rain cloud rolled in,
meanwhile we both were catching a few fish,
the score 5-4 to Nick,
then the rain really started with all of the force of a tropical downpour,
we fished on,
the rain getting heavier by the minuet,
it got really cold, so we took to putting on ponchos, this was one of Diana's as you might have guessed,
we were both soaked, but at least the fish were being cooperative by throwing themselves on our hooks,
whilst putting one back as we had enough to take home with us one of them decided to not hit the water, so I had to rescue it,
so on with the final score, an embarrassing loss for me, Nick won with a score of 15 to my 7, what did I do wrong?
if you want to fish here, it is the Mamak fishing park, their map above, it is off of Soi Nub Plan Wan, (spelt as it sounds), turn into the Soi from Sumkivitt, over the railway crossing and continue for a couple of miles, the road starts to go downhill, near the bottom of it you will see the road the fishing park is on the right hand side, almost opposite the big pink building on the left, follow that for a while, it twists and turns a bit and the fishing park is on the left next to a soccer ground, there are rods and tackle for hire and bait to buy, plus a fridge full of beer!
arriving back at Nick and Maureen's we were so amazed at how much bigger their tomatoes were than ours,
and we had planted ours a week earlier,
and some of them were of a really good size already,
it was then time for our evening meal,
roast pork and cracking,
'Cheers!', we followed with ice cream, cheese and biscuits with pickled onions,
then to the serious part of the evening, Monopoly!
which I won, it was just one of those things every time I rolled the dice I landed on the property I wanted, in no time at all I had three complete sets with houses or hotels and the game was over, what a great day we had, after thanking Nick and Maureen for looking after us so well we made a move for home, then feet up for another episode of Endevour and we were off to bed.
