a district council spokesman insisted: “Putting up the flag at the Town Hall is not as simple as pulling a rope and raising it into place, the process involves our site manager climbing an 8ft-tall ladder, which rests on a plinth overlooking a spiked gate, we think this is too risky.” I guess the spiked gate could not be remove for the 5 minuets it would take to put the flag up? no, no, to simple!
strange how since the town hall was built, I am guessing at least 150 years ago, no one has thought of this before, safe until now? I think not, like so many other fine traditions in the UK the march of the H&S and the PC brigade will continue to be a force to be reckoned with, how totally and pathetic some people in charge of this sort of thing are becoming.

Health And Safety Strike Again At South Kesteven District Council, Bourne, Lincs,
in total disrespect to Queen, Country and fallen soldiers,
