This Is Another One Of Those
'what a lucky find' stories,
an out of work graduate after metal detecting with his father in the same field for several years made the find of a life time, a Roman ceremonial bronze helmet, thought to be worth an estimated £200-300,000, the windfall was going to be split 50/50 with the land owner and the graduate, imagine if you were either of them listening to the bidding as it topped not one but two million! the gavel finally fell at £2,281,250, well if I lived anywhere near Crosby Garrett in Cumbria I would be in the queue at the local metal detector retailer with sandwiches and a flask of tea ready for the weekend!
