First stop Central Festival,

we are going to the movies,

so out of the car park,

and into the lift, I even managed to get a bit of me in the picture,

we are going to watch Titanic, but in 3D,

so popcorn and diet coke then we are ready to go, the film whilst in 3D did not have any of those in your face pop, out of the screen effects, but it was still a great movie to watch again with just slight changes from the original screening, such as at night in the original many of the stars in the sky were in the wrong place, that I have been told has been corrected, also good news for us is that Men in Black 3, the new Batman and Lord of the Rings movies are to be released in 3D along with a few other 3D movies in the coming year,

outside the water fight has begun in earnest,

today is the start of the Thai new year,

to celebrate it in days of old young members of the community would pour water over the hands of the village elders,

but this seemed a bit tame to some of the kids,

so they started throwing water at each other, then someone had the idea of making super water pistols like these,

or making home made ones out of PVC water pipe like the one above,

so the stage is set for what could possibly be the worlds largest and longest water fight,

many roadside bars give you a soaking,

as well as families and friends in trucks complete with a dustbin full of water in the back,

the supply of water is some times a problem, but not is you are these guys, the bit of blue with a white strip is in fact a water truck, so no running out of water in this bar!

as soon as we arrived home it was shower and change to go to the Friday night market, hardly any cars in the park but we were a bit early,

some of the stalls still setting up,

a few clouds but no sign of rain, it was just plain hot,

just a couple of stalls opposite the bar tonight,

as I made my way around the market, again this stall had some thing that caught my eye,

 lychee's, at 85 baht a kilo,

they are still small, but the ones we bought last week were so sweet,

getting ready for the water fight, lots of water guns,

not many people in the pet section this evening,

I had seen a few of these before,

but not this many, dog coats, I guess the yellow/gold Chinese style one is for a Pekingese,

 sunset over the market,

the family were coming my way so a quick picture,

 and then a quick pose,

Sandio and Diana return to the bar after a shopping foray,

 Brian join us as well,

along with Dang and her cousin,

some more clothes and some lychee's,

 all the family together,

Porn, Yew and Craig also called by to say hello,

then it was time to go,

after arriving back at 388 and showering Mike and Riza called by to pick us all up,

and take us to a restaurant that was in a side road off of Soi Chaiyapruk 2,

and here we all are, the restaurant did not seem to have a name,

also it was dark so it is difficult to give directions to it,

but what a find by Mike and Riza, it has a fish pond,

 plenty of seating,

and a swing chair that Dioshane,

and Sandio had to try out,

 animals to ride on,

 and some strange ones!

I guess you would called the decor Thai rural, it looked just right,

then a surprise, Mike and Riza had very kindly bought me a birthday present,

it looked so nice it was a shame to unwrap it,

 but I did anyway,

 even the bow was nice,

just what I wanted a nice shirt,

I thought Mike needed a headdress as well, 'Cheers!',

the girls and Sandio decided on going for a walk,

and pose for a picture or two,

also in the grounds of the restaurant there was a orchard,

so if you ask for a mango dessert it can not be much fresher than these,

there were more animals to ride on,

 everyone had a go,

 also a huge swing seat,

and a rocking horse that Sandio,

 Dioshane,

 and Donna tried,

 then the food arrived,

 it was delicious,

in fact I would say it was the nicest Thai meal I have eaten in a long time,

there was so much to chose from,

 everybody enjoyed the meal,

another 'Cheers!', from me with Mike and Riza,

Sandio and Dioshane did not stop eating,

and neither did Mike and myself,

the view from my end of the table,

and from the other end of the table,

it was then time to leave, after some fresh fruit back to 388,

we watched some parts of some 3D movies then it was time for our guests to leave, a big thank you to Mike and Riza for my birthday present and for treating us to a splendid meal, in the coming weeks we will try to find the restaurant again in daylight, the food really was that good, now the answer to the question, on the 14th of April, (the day Titanic struck the iceberg) I will be 62 years old, I know I have the body and looks of a 70 year but there it is, with that we were off to bed.

Hi Stan, first off a belated Happy Birthday. For some reason I thought it was today (15th). My computer has broken down so I'm sending this from my phone. I must admit it took me a bit of effort to find this blog without knowing the address. All the best Alf.

Hey Stanley,
I'd really appreciate if you would be so kind to find out details about the nameless thai restaurant. It looks like a great place to take a group, not too crowded and great thai food. I've been looking for a place like that.

Cheers...
