photographs Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium web page, well they certainly are here at the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, what makes this aquarium stand out is the fact that Churaumi’s highlight is its huge water tank of 7,500m3
capacity named "Kuroshio Sea" after the warm ocean current flowing
along the archipelago, reported to be the largest saltwater aquarium in the world,
the aquarium houses species such as the whale shark and manta rays, but it is just not the aquarium, outside there is the large Ocean Expo Park hugging the seaside and pleasantly
facing the small volcanic island of Ie-jima. The green space is complemented
with several facilities, such as:
• An outdoor children playground,
• Several food trucks for snacking,
• Lush botanical gardens, and,
• The reproduction of a traditional village.
also open-air water tanks dedicated to sea turtles,
dolphins and manatees are also open to the public, the show is free, and it is
possible to feed the animals for a fee, if you are lucky enough to be in Japan you can visit by bus, approximately two and a half hours from Naha airport, Yanbaru Express Line then a10 minutes' walk (one-way trip: ¥2,000 at today's rate £10.58, or $13.60, 10 departures a day on
average)
