sixteen of Adams’ photos will squeeze inside the tiny
confines of a USPS forever stamp for a
new collection,
the series is going to be released this spring in May and contains several of his most well-known images from Yosemite to Denali, looking at the reproduced originals, it is amazing the detail in his prints, the cameras he used were not cheap, the camera he used in the photograph of him above was the most expensive in the Zeiss catalogue, but by todays standards antiques! Most
of Adams' best known images were taken with 8x10 and 4x5 view cameras, He also
used a variety of other negative formats, from 35mm and medium format roll film
through less common formats such as Polaroid type 55 and 7x17 panoramic cameras, but as with many great photographs, it is not the camera, it is who is behind the lens, as it happens I do not collect American stamps, but these were of interest for 2 reasons, firstly a great photographer who gave so many photographic enthusiast ideas to compose and take excellent photographs, and secondly, well I like stamps!
