but my pocket camera had started playing up,
not switching on, and then not recognising the memory card, when it eventually started to work I was already on the number 54 bus, the windows steamed up as it was a tad cold, I was on my way to visit Duncan,
past the new building at the top of the hill, thankfully no traffic lights today,
past Peter Pan's Pool,
looking towards Catford, grey skies,
as usual in Catford the bus going around town due to works on the new paving in the market area,
arriving at Blackheath station the ticket office was open, so I bought next months tickets to visit Duncan, downstairs on the platform it had a new roof and the upright pillars had been painted,
before the ironwork was grey, now a mid green,
well this is a new one, I have seen trains delayed due to leaves on the track, fallen trees and snow, but never slippery rails, until now! the good news, the train was going through Dartford to Gravesend, the bad news when it arrived at Dartford everyone was told to get off and wait for another train to go to Gravesend, arriving there a bus was waiting, so with no time to spare I was on it,
and soon walking up the hill to where Duncan stays in a nursing home,
past the silver birch trees at the entrance,
still grey skies, as it happens rain was forecast,
today the comfort dog had been in attendance, the owner chatting to one of the maintenance guys, inside Duncan was back to his normal self chatting away, after a couple of hours his lunch arrived so it was time to say our goodbyes until next week,
outside the weather had not improved, I was lucky with the bus and the train straight through to Blackheath,
where the weather had become worse with dark threatening clouds in the distance,
on the bus I passed the latest union demonstration, Sir Kneeler as our Prime Minister is known, after caving in to train drivers on £60,000 a year and giving them more, £69,000 as it happens, other unions seeing weakness have all started on the 'give us more money', some of the funding for which was paid for by almost every pensioner in the UK. The government has decided not to give pensions the annual winter fuel allowance, it was £300 a year in the winter to help with energy bills, the move to stop giving the allowance to the old in the UK was not popular with the country, and proves what liars politicians are, the fact is that the hypocrisy of the new Labour government is astounding, Sir Kneeler Starmer stated 2 years ago he
would not be touching winter fuel allowance. Ms Reeves, the UK's Chancellor tweeted in May 2017: 'It's
Labour who will stand up for pensioners, defending the triple lock & winter
fuel payments.’ A couple of months in power and they are gone for all but
the absolute poorest in our society, for the story have a look here,
I soon arrived at the entrance to the park, Diana was already home, luckily, as I had forgotten my keys,
during the day the latest edition of Private Eye had arrived, so a read and a sherry before our evening meal,
for starters some Vietnamese duck spring rolls,
baked salmon for our main course,
'Cheers!', in the evening we settled down to a Deadliest Catch, followed by a couple from the Antiques Road Trip, then time for the start of another Prime Suspect, before we were off to bed.
