How Wrong I Can Be,
I have always thought that cactus were slow growing,
but it appears not, William Thompson bought a two-inch high one for his son 3 years ago, and look at it now! Mr Thompson, an oil rig worker from Hull, said: 'It started off as a tiny plant on the shelf, it hasn't stop growing and every time you go into the conservatory it seems to be bigger,'
Dr Alasdair Glen, vice-chairman of the British Cactus and Succulent Society, said, 'It's certainly grown at a pretty fast rate, it's really a remarkable achievement to have done this in such a short time,'
it appears it is a Pilosocereus, it is native to Brazil and can grow up to 20ft in height, the giant Saguaro cactus is the world's tallest and can grow up to 67ft high, weighing in at six tonnes and can live for 250 years, it can take 50 years to produce its first flower, crikey if it is one of those imagine how big the conservatory would have to be!
now the downside, well maybe the upside, the Internet is so bad I have given up for today, I have a satellite connection, I guess due to the rain it is the reason it takes so long to up load, so tomorrow I will do 2 posts, hopefully it will not be raining!
