We Did Absolutely Nothing Today But Watch TV,

and boy am I glad we did!

whilst in the UK I bought a pack of 10 DVD's called Our Century, they had been on our 'to watch' shelf since I returned from the UK, each one deals in a time range, the one above obviously 1900 - 1914, but the great thing is that out of 52 minuets running time I had seen less than 1 minuets worth before, Goumont has opened it's extensive library to bring out a visual feast of unseen images, the second in the series encompasses the First World War, but gives this only 5 minuets or so, leaving that subject to DVD's that are focused solely on the war, but this episode deals with the background and the effects that it had on the citizens of France, I should mention that a lot of the commentary and images are largely taken in France but then Léon Gaumont was French,

again 52 minuets of black and white footage that I had only seen a few moments of, great viewing,

then glad rags on and off to town,

as we walked into the street there was the banner for Loy Krathong above the Marine bar, normally there is a line of floating Krathongs outside on the night that are judged, each one being made by a hotel,

more than a few people about tonight, I guess a lot have arrived for the weekend festivities,

but first things first, food, steak and mushrooms for Diana, chicken curry for me, 402 baht,

Tom sent an SMS to say he would not be in tonight as he was a bit under the weather so we went for a walk instead of going to Sisterz, going to wards Bali Hai pier,

it was crowded, also I was amazed by the number of new venues that had opened up in few months since we had last walked up here,

two pigs outside, so it was a party night at Insomnia,

the Simon beer bar complex, one of the floating restaurants in the far distance,

the revamped beach side seafood restaurant,

pick your own, all alive, aliveo!

this bar has been here for some time, it has a live group and unlike others they did sound remarkably good, so if live music is your thing give them a try, but we did not stop so I am not sure of drink prices,

another new bar/lounge/disco, Torus, I think it along with the other discos tends to be a late night place so at 9.00 in the evening things are a bit quite,

another lounge/live music bar, aimed at I am guessing the Russian market as I did not see a name in English,

this is at the corner of the new Soho Square, not crowded in the least, but if you do not mind sitting in the open a nice place to watch the world go by,

this is an amazing bar, there is so much stuff inside and out you can hardly get a seat inside,

the good news is that they were playing some nice easy music as we went past,

we are now on our way back, going past the big tree in Walking Street, do not linger to long under it, there are a lot of birds up there!

the new go-go opposite Champions is coming along, it will be called Cosy's ago-go, previously the space was occupied by a Russian restaurant, a few more days and it should be up and running, we then made our way to Sisterz, but before we got there who should be coming the other way? as if by magic the grass cutter anonymous appeared walking towards us, for reasons of National Security he has to remain nameless, so into Sisterz we went, over the next hour or so, Big Jim called in, then it seemed as if there was a meeting of past and present bar owners with the other Mark, Paul, Ken and Dino all sitting at another table, then Big Jim, the nameless one and ourselves all decamped to see Juu at Champions, another nice evening out and a real surprise to bump into our friend from the UK,

on the way back alcohol induced hunger pains crept up on us, so a chicken leg for me,

some fresh fruit, for both of us,

whilst waiting for the chicken to be cooked Diana just had to have some bugs,

chicken nearly done then home for tea and medals!
