Looking Back Over The Past Two Posts I Have Just Realised This One Is Also Connected To The Railways,

China has just unveiled it's 245mph train service, China's new system connects the modern cities of Guangzhou and Wuhan at an average speed of 217mph, the super-high-speed train reduces the 664-mile journey to just a three-hour ride and cuts the previous journey time by more than seven-and-a-half hours, the official Xinhua news agency said, by comparison, the average for high-speed trains in Japan was 150mph while in France it was 172mph, said Xu Fangliang, general engineer in charge of designing the link, in September, officials said they planned to build 42 high-speed lines by 2012 in a massive system overhaul, all of the above is to me amazing, but think of it 664 miles of track laid, stations, roads and other supporting bits of infrastructure brought in and built, all in UNDER 4 years! now I have read about this guy Gordan who gives millions (or is that billions) of UK taxpayers £'s to China every year, well if they better themselves by spending it on themselves with projects like this then good for them, at least our money has not landed in some ones back pocket! but please Gordon could you not twiddle dials, twist levers, pull knobs, whatever and ask if we could have some of these obviously skilled Chinese engineers to help with tram and railway construction in the UK? we seem to take forever to build something like this.
