I Found These Stunning Pictures,

at first I thought there were,

 photomicrographs of crystals,

but I was wrong, theses are the work of photographer David Burdeny, he has been working on a large-scale photography project, using aerial photography to explore some of the world’s most vibrant salterns in Utah, Mexico, and Australia,

Burdeny began the series SALT: Fields, Plottings and Extracts in 2015, these works, along with a selection of Burdeny’s aerial photographs from Dutch flower fields, will be included in the solo exhibition Salt and Veld opening December 15th at Gilman Contemporary

the exhibition runs through January 20, 2017. You can see images from Burdeny’s SALT series, as well images from Cuba, Russia, and Brazil on his website, as an aside the colour of the water contained in the salterns changes, the ponds can range from blue green to deep magenta, coloured naturally by the microorganisms that thrive as salinity levels increase, three microorganisms in particular, Synechococcus, Halobacteria, and Dunaliella, influence the colour of salt ponds, what stunning and almost unbelievable images.
