We Had A Busy Day Today,

before Robbie arrived,


 I had look around one of the other rooms we are not using, am so glad I bought the attic all those years ago, I just wish I had put a permanent staircase in then back in the 1980s, the fire regulations now make it prohibitivly expensive to do so, hence the loft ladder which as is not permanent as it can be raised, so no planning permission is required, anyway I had a look in the room next door to the one we are going to use,

 I imagine it was some sort of staffroom when the house had just one family, as there were clothes hooks in abundance,

 and the original gas light fittings,

 what a difference it makes having all of the pipework removed,

 the decks now cleared Robbie set to work cutting the now disused metal water tank in half, it was too big to fit through the loft hatch opening,

using one of these, a hand held hacksaw, but unlike this one he was using a metal cutting blade, it was not advisable to use a angle grinder, one spark if undetected could start a serious fire,

 slower than an angle grinder, but far safer from the sparks it does not produce,

 Robbie laid down sticky plastic sheeting, 

 to protect the carpet,

 and then let the fun begin,

 with Robbie in the attic and myself underneath we manhandled the first half of the water tank through the hatch, unless you have first hand experience of these tanks, you have no idea of how much they weigh, even a half of one!

 the first half was bad enough, the second more complicated to handle as the taps in it always decided to snag on the loft hatch door and almost every step of the ladder, but we got down at last,

 then pass down the pipe work,

 and there was a lot of it,

 from small gas copper light fitting tubes to 1¼ inch gas and water pipe, but all done at the end of the day, after thanking Robbie and saying goodbye it was time for a shower,

 and then we were out for our Saturday evening meal, at the Kathmandu Masala, in Croydon Road Beckenham,

 a glass of sherry and some poppadoms,

 for our starters, lamb samosa for Diana,

 and a King prawn puri for myself, 

 on to the main course, chicken tikka masala, chicken Jaisalmer, Himalayan lamb, aloo gobi, peas and mushroom rice, onion bhaji and a nan bread,

'Cheers!', the meal with wine and two soft drinks for Diana came to £86. a tad expensive but it was so nice, arriving home it was feet up for some television and then we were off to bed.
