From The Bright Full Sun Of Yesterday,

to the cold hard grey mist of today,

at the top of the hill we could not see the pier,

nearly at the bottom of the hill,

decision made,

today was not the day to go on the Eye!

we went for a walk to the restaurant on the pier,

and relaxed,

a Christmas tree and a sea view,

a nice way to start the day,

latté coffee for both of us, incidentally the green/red card in the holder lets the staff know if you want to order, red all is OK, green uppermost please call by for a order, neat idea, a similar thing happens in the Pattaya Beer Garden, but on beer mats, red side up leave me alone, green side up come over and say hello,

a slice of cake for Diana,

back to the hut,

where Diana tried her new coat,

and nice it looked too,

next a visit to the sea,

for some selfies,

I zoomed closer to the pier,

the mist almost looking like it was lifting

after it was dark we made a move for the hotel, past the Hot Rocks bar and up the hill,

change of clothes for the evening,

no you have not put on weight!

a quick pose by some Christmas decorations,

and here we were, at Miller and Carter,

a quick look at their well stocked bar,

another cocktail for Diana!

a bottle of red for myself,

Diana had chosen another raspberry cocktail,

and nice Diana said it was too,

on to our starters, Diana chose sweet chipotle chilli-glazed chicken bites with toasted sesame seeds,

for myself wild Atlantic scallops served with a lobster & prosecco sauce, peas, crispy pancetta and straw fries, as an aside, whenever I see foodstuffs advertised as 'wild' I always think rather than wild they would have been absolutely livid when they were caught!

'Cheers!',

what a lovely start to the evening,

Diana was enjoying her cocktail,

whilst I was savouring the red,

a raspberry in a sea of prosecco,

our main course arrived,

we were going to share a chateaubriand, but the waitress mentioned that if we had it cooked like Diana likes her steak cooked, well done, it would shrink so much, and mentioned a better bet would be to have two fillet steaks, Diana's well done and medium for myself,

so that was the plan,

an 8 once fillet each,

with a huge tiger prawn with each steak, plus salad, mushrooms and baby potatoes, what a feast!

for dessert,

a knickerbocker glory,

and it was glorious!

Diana could not believe how big it was,

Diana mentioned that if she had of ordered one there would be a lot of it left, so for Diana a Madagascan vanilla-glazed brûlée, served with a home-baked vanilla biscuit with fresh berries and a coffee,

a quick pose,

from both of us,

then eyes down and tuck in!

what a fabulous meal, a quick photograph outside, the bill came to just over £130.00, a bit more than we normally spend, but then it was Miller & Carter, and they were 30 day aged steaks, back to bread and dripping next week! we were both really full, the walk up the hill to the hotel taking a little longer than normal, arriving back it was feet up for a spiced rum, a couple of Midsomer Murders, and we were off to bed.
