The 2nd Part Of Our Night Visit To Kew Gardens At Christmas,

in the distance,

we saw the flicker of real flames, and here they were,

coming from literally hundreds of lamps,

some in tiers,

others along pathways,

it does not matter how good artificial lights  are,

nothing beats a real flame,

just looking at them seems to give a warmth to the chilly evening air,

from ground mounted ones,

to three levels,

or multi level installations, they all looked so nice,

and this is the chap that had an almost fulltime job,

keeping them topped up, with I am guessing diesel, the same that you put into your diesel motorcar, many year ago in Thailand I had ten or so of these around a pond in the back garden, and that is what I used,

not sure that the smoke and fumes are environmentally sound, but there it is, they look so nice,

we passed a few more illuminated trees,

until we reached another photo opp,

and a tunnel of light,

a pose from Diana,

and a close up,

well I had too!

another couple,

from Diana,

all around the garden there were these signs on the ground being projected from overhead,

a wicker Mr. Fox,

now is this a fox or a happy squirrel?

moving on,

we passed a few more trees,

and stalls,

when we came upon this display near the blue tree,

they looked like stands of pampas grass,

apart from changing colour,

they mimicked the real thing,

there was hardly any breeze,

but just like the real thing,

they gently swayed to and fro,

it was a delight to watch them,

we had been walking for well over 2 hours,

when we came to the Palm House,

as last year,

a magnificent show,

of colour and sound,

red and greens,

changing in the blink of an eye,

as did the 'flowers',

in the beds,

we made our way round the pond,

watching the show,

now almost opposite,

the entrance to the glass house,

what a lovely,

ever changing display,

inside the house,

patterns were being projected,

giving the house a mottled look,

by the side of the pond,

the pond caught its reflection,

we arrived just as a illuminated fountain display was starting,

we were viewing it from the side,

quickly passing,

some of the trees,

we were soon in the best spot to see the show,

the fountains blending seamlessly with the music,

the water and lights spelling out a message,

you got it, Santa is Coming!

what a fabulous show,

there were more messages,

and the show continued,

with more fountains and music,

then more lights,

lots of them making so many different effects in the water,

this is one date that will be in our dairy's for next year!

a final look,

as we make our way back to the tube station,

but first here is the video of the water show that Diana made,

arriving at Kew station the good news was that the tubes were running normally again, arriving in Beckenham we said our farewells to Steve and Kai, it was past 11.30 already, so off home, feet up for a coffee, and as Diana has an early shift tomorrow, we were off to bed.
