The End Of An Era,
The factory which built more than 4,000 Lancaster bombers during World War Two is to close,
about 630 jobs will go when the Woodford plant in Cheshire shuts at the end of 2012, in all, defence firm BAE Systems is axing 1,116 jobs across the UK, the Ministry of Defence said the job losses were regretted but BAE's decision was "a commercial matter for the company",
nothing lasts forever, but for me it is a shame to see another piece of our British heritage go to the wall, I just hope that the workers skills will be past on to future generations, this comment made even more poignant after watching the Fred Dibnah series and looking at some of the skills that could be lost whilst completing his traction engine.
