do not know the difference between a monkey nut and peanut,
a spokesperson for the FSA said: 'the reason for the withdrawal is that the packaging does not state the product contains peanuts, which is a specific allergen that’s listed in legislation, the product’s packaging is transparent, but the nuts are still in the shells i.e. sold as monkey nuts rather than specifically as peanuts'
the FSA added, 'customers with an allergy to peanuts are advised not to eat this product but to return it to the nearest EH Booths store for a full refund', is it me or do people who are allergic to nuts really do not know that the monkey nuts pictured above have a peanut or two inside the shell? whilst on the subject of nut allergies this seems to be a modern problem, back in the 1950s and 1960s at school there was no such thing as a pupil with a nut allergy amongst the 760 of us,
but going back to Booths Whole Hearted Roasted Monkey Nuts I am only surprised that somebody hasn't said there was not a whole heart or a real monkey in the package!
