but there was no joints of lamb available,
which was a shame as I do enjoy a few slices of lamb in a roast dinner, but no worries, 'Cheers!' from me,
Diana was not so hungry so she ordered just a starter of fried chicken slices, just 95 baht, we both thought that would be a small meal, boy did we get that one wrong! there was so much of it Diana could not eat it all,
next stop on the way home, the market,
we just love eating a few cold fresh strawberries whilst watching a DVD or two,
deal done 100 baht for a large tray,
next some of these small oranges, full of flavour and mostly no pips,
nearby a flower stall,
these orchids are sold for putting into the spirit house many homes have,
along with marigolds,
chrysanthemums and roses,
also available in abundance,
these garlands are for the car, at least that is what I think they are for, many times at traffic lights people sell garlands like these to bless the journey,
next a few apples,
then take down the outside lights, just today the postman called, we had another couple of Christmas cards delivered,
another few years and I will need a ladder to reach the top of the tree,
I asked Diana about the hair clip, Maureen very kindly gave it to her her, Diana decided I needed it, but not my colour!
I just remembered a few days ago I mentioned I would take a picture of one of the Golden Wonder Panchax, Aplocheilus lineatus I have in the aquarium, well here it is, a beautiful fish to look at, not like the picture in the article I did a link to,
whilst I had the camera in hand I also took a picture of one of the red rainbowfish, Glossolepis incisus, I have in the aquarium, it is found in the north-eastern part of Western New Guinea (Irian Jaya), and is endemic to lake Sentani where around that area it is considered a food fish, which is a shame as it is one the endangered list, the good news is that they are now being captive breed for the aquatic trade,
in the evening feet up for Mercury Rising, basically the US has developed a 'super code' that cannot be broken, but a 9 year old autistic boy does, so everyone who knows has to die, well not the hero of course! n December 1955 Sears publish a phone number for Santa, unfortunately, the phone number they offered was one digit off; instead of Sears, it linked to a top secret line at CONAD, the Continental Air Defense Command, when Colonel Harry Shoup, the commander's director of operations, answered the phone, he expected to hear about a missile strike against the US, instead, he got a little kid who wanted to talk to Santa,
the above is true, I really could not make this up! although the conversation ended with the child crying and Shoup fuming, the Colonel eventually came around and began giving the children updates on Santa's travels through the night sky, the following year, CONAD offered a new, non-secret, phone number that children could call, in 1958, when CONAD became NORAD, the new command continued the tradition, in 2007, Google came on board, giving NORAD access to its 2-D maps and 3-D Google Earth resources to improve its tracking, Gmail also provides an address that children can use to email their lists directly to Santa, in 2008, 1,275 people, 100 phones, and 25 computers handled 69,845 phone calls and 6,086 e-mails from around the world, in order to ensure that the many volunteers don't issue conflicting reports and I thought it was all fiction!
then Casino, the film spans three decades and chronicles the true story of a faction of the mob who ran Las Vegas casinos, the action centers around the Tangiers hotel and casino, gripping if somewhat violent stuff, then off to bed.
