Whilst Chatting To A Friend,

we mentioned how much we liked fresh fruit, to which he replied, go to the food market in Soi Khao Talo, fresh produce is brought from Chiang Mai every Saturday and Wednesday for the afternoon/evening market, so off we went, in case you do not know it Soi Khao Talo is the Soi that is almost opposite Thepprasit Road, go up to Sumkivit, turn left as if you are going to Bangkok, immediately turn right at the next set of traffic lights, just a 100 meters or so along Sumkivit, over the railway line and just keep going, eventually you will see this on the right hand side of the road, you can park on the main road but there is also plenty of parking next to the market on the road that is just before it,
also there are a few shops on that road,
unlike Soi Bukow or Theppresitt markets it is permanently covered,
with nice wide walk ways,
as soon as we entered we found a few things to buy, fresh Brussel sprouts, not cheap at 200 baht a kilo, but a few for for a treat was nice,
the range of vegetables was to say the least extensive, also the owner of this stall had taken the time to label every product in Thai and English,
we made our way to the far end of the walk way, where it ends there are a number of clothes stalls,
along with some hardware stalls,
then we started the walk up the parallel walkway,
stopping at another fresh produce stall, this time some potatoes and carrots,
here it is a help yourself operation, the assistant or owner gives you a bag and the rest is up to you,
then fresh strawberries, just what we were looking for,
as we made our way out of the market there was this stall selling freshly made drinks, Diana just had to have a chocolate one!
delicious! we then walked along another walkway with just household goods, I mentioned to Diana how much work must have gone into moving all of this, not just here but in all of the markets that we visit,
back to the fruit stalls, a few fresh mango's for the evening,
and some of those small ever so sweet oranges from China,
mission accomplished!
home change and out for an Indian meal, again to the Royal Indian Hut on Second Road, almost opposite the White Rose Hotel,
we had 2 main chicken courses, plus a vegetable course with rice and a butter nan, 680 baht, plus a drinks, the food here is so nice!
Diana was wearing one of her new dresses and earrings,
'Cheers!'
during the day we watched a remake of for me an old favorite, The Avengers, British Ministry agent John Steed, under direction from "Mother", investigates a diabolical plot by arch-villain Sir August de Wynter to rule the world with his weather control machine, I will not keep you in suspense - he fails!
on to a chiller, Sleepy Hollow, the storyline, the cruse of the headless horseman is the legacy of the small town of Sleepy Hollow, spearheaded by the eager Constable Ichabod Crane and his new world ways into the quagmire of secrets and murder, secrets once laid to rest, best forgotten and now reawakened, and he too, holding a dark secret of a past once gone, given that the film is set in the US, I was amazed at how much of it was filmed in the UK,
another favorite of ours the Simpson's, this time a few from the The Complete Second Season, so many things to laugh at!
to round off the evening a couple from Frost, although tilted Love Me Tender it appears as No Other Love, in IMDb, Peter Lawson is a pawnbroker with a difficult family life, his father, retired after a long career in the army, is a demanding patriarch and his oldest children hate him, an armed robbery at his shop brings DI Jack Frost, now reunited with DS Clive Barnard, onto the case but all does sit well with the police, when Lawson is murdered a few days later, Frost and Barnard uncover a case of child abuse that has gone on for years,
then on to our new box set, series 6 through to 9, the first, Appendix Man is just as good and watchable as the previous box set, the story is of Hazel Wallace returning from her training as the new Detective Sergeant, Supt. Mullett assigns her to sorting the mess left behind by DI Frost while he was on extended compassionate leave, Wallace's first case is a man found hanged in his home, she suspects the death was not suicide, a set of fingerprints at the scene belong to an unidentified man discovered drowned a year previously, the stage is set, then off to bed.
