Mr.Reynard,

paid us a fleeting visit,

 I just had time to pick up the camera, and he was gone,

 we had a quiet day,

 but in the evening were were out, to Lugana, in Elmers End, and what a surprise, normally on a Wednesday if we go out early as tonight at 6.30, we are normally the only customers, but not here, the restaurant was fully booked!

 as luck would have it they did have a table tucked away in a small alcove,

 which was fine for us, complimentary olives and bread,

 our starters arrived,

Gamberoni Piccanti, King prawns cooked in butter, garlic, white wine, chopped tomatoes & chilli for Diana,

 for myself, Coppa Di Salmone, avocado & fresh crab meat topped with Scotch smoked salmon,

 onto our mains, Diana chose Pollo Ripieno, corn-fed chicken breast stuffed with Mozzarella cheese & asparagus, cooked in a cream & mushroom sauce served with sauté potatoes & mixed vegetables,

 for myself Vitello Della Casa, veal escalopes with mushrooms, white wine cream sauce, sauté potatoes & mixed vegetables,

for Diana,

  Tiramisu con Savoiardi, soft sponge base made from coffee soaked lady fingers with layers of mascarpone cream & dusted with cocoa powder,

 for myself, Profiteroles, soft choux pastries filled with superb Chantilly cream covered in chocolate, all so delicious!

then for myself a real indulgence, a white Reciotto, a really nice dessert wine,

what a fabulous meal! the bill came to £106.00, there  are a number of restaurants here in Elmers End, we decided to walk past 4 of them, they ranged from completely empty to the maximum of just 8 covers, where as the Lugana as we mentioned was fully booked, even early in the evening, on the way home we looked into what is perhaps Beckenham's premier restaurant Pierluigi's, we were amazed, normally packed it had just 8 covers! it appears Lugana is the new 'in' place, arriving home we had a nice email from Jim who is at the moment in Thailand,

and having great luck fishing, this a giant Mekong catfish, (Pangasianodon gigas),

which is the fish on the left, the one on the right is a Siamese giant carp, (Catlocarpio siamensis), well done Jim! what a day he must have had, his arms must have been nearly too sore to lift a congratulatory beer! for us arriving home a nightcap and a couple from Game of Thrones and we were off  to bed.
