Out For The Day,

so wrap up warm,

 and we were off,

firstly catching the 54 to Blackheath,

where we waited for the 386, at the Royal Parade stop,

to take us to,

 the far side of Greenwich,

as we arrived the stop was just outside of this shop,

selling crystals and other mineral specimens,

we made our way to the back of the power station,

and found where we were going,

the Greenwich Auction house, there are a few things we are looking for, but alas none were here, but it was fun to look around on viewing day,

we had decided to walk back along the river to Greenwich,

so we had to take a few photographs,

we were here the last time we visited the UK with Steve and Kai,

Diana was snapping away, it almost looks like her hair is down to her waist,

a quick pose by the anchor, as an aside this area is known as Anchor Iron Wharf

and the anchor makes a great place to pose!

 opposite us the city,

 and down river the O2,

and of course I was just going to have to have a pose!

I mentioned we were going to walk along the river, but alas it was not to be,

 the pathway was closed off,

there was plenty of room, just a small portion of the pathway was taken up by a couple of generators, the rest of the public pathway had become a private car park for the constructors,

it appeared there was plenty of room for the public to walk past the generators, but there it is,

it was a shame the path way was closed as we were going to revisit Stan, but all was not lost, here are a few pictures from our visit to Greenwich from our trip here with Steve and Kai,

 a wall with a story,

by a strange coincidence it is a story about a boy named Stan, the work is by Amanda Hinge and titled Thames Tale,

I normally find things lurking me after a drink or two, so this Stan and myself have a little in common!

but who is Stan in the story? Amanda writes, 'Bizarrely enough Stan wasn’t based on any one boy in particular, but when it came to installing the work with a rather eccentric and lovely Welsh builder Bill, an old man was taken to visit the wall and see the work being installed and his name was Stan, He lived in the Huguenot hospice next door and had lived in Greenwich all his life, He had worked on the docks many years ago and used to like walking along the river.' so despite the private car park on the pathway that is the story of Stan and I have now managed to track down where this insight has come from only today! have a look here for the full interview,

whilst walking the detour we noticed this rather girly, as Diana put it, mini,

adorned with a special paint job,

Diana fell in love with it, saying that if she passed her UK driving test this is just the car for the girls when Diana can take Kai out on a shopping spree!

at the rear of the power station we could still see the train tracks that were once used when the station was up and running using coal for fuel,

we walked past one of the many public houses,

that are on the river side,

like this one, the Trafalgar Tavern,

 the O2in the distance,

 time for a pose,

 by now,

we were walking past the collage,

 so a quick stop,
 for a photograph,
or two,

or three,

and then there she was, the Cutty Sark

 and Diana,

 a quick pose,

 and a close up,

well I had to get in as well!

crossing the road,

we made our way to the market,

 which for today,

had a huge number of food stalls in attendance,

which Diana took full advantage of,

the number of stalls was huge,

 and some truly mobile,

whilst Diana was eating I wandered off to look at the antique stalls,

with all manner of items for sale,

if you are in to commemorative porcelain, this is the stall for you!

 hats for cold heads,

and by the fire of an evening, knitting,

the sign looked interesting, but for us nothing of any interest,

next the stall of Alice,

with lots of items to tempt you,

by now Diana had caught up,

 as we wandered around,

the public house from Now You See Me 2, which we mentioned on a previous visit to Greenwich,

now this looked tasty, a tea and cake shop,

 so in we went,

for a tea in a cast iron pot which kept the tea incredibly hot

the tea room looked small but it had a downstairs seating area,

a slice of cherry cake for Diana and a slice of plum cake for myself,

what a great little find,

after arriving home we had our evening meal, and then I was out, I had done it, one whole month without a single drop of alcohol, so I wandered out of the park to meet Steve for a drink at the club,

and staggered back into the park after saying goodbye to Steve, I am only making one post today, the Internet has been appalling bad, as usual I was up at 06.00 this morning and started on the blog, it is now 09.50 and I have still not finished this one post, so back to last night, after a nightcap or three we were off to bed.
