Many Of My Friends Know I Collect Stamps,

so obviously I post stamp related articles every now and then,
what has this got to do with the Stature of Liberty? well it appears that the United States Postal Service wanted to design a new stamp, with the famous lady on it, the original is above,

a part of the head is used in the Lady Liberty "Forever" stamp, but after printing 3 billion of them some one spotted that if you go to Las Vegas and look into a fake New York harbour there is a fake Statue of Liberty there, unfortunately that fibreglass face is what appears on all of the stamps, the mistake was made even worse by an informational leaflet released this month with a sheet of 18 Lady Liberty and flag stamps, it includes a short history of the Statue of Liberty - but makes no mention of the replica, but all is not lost, officials have now said they will change the brochure to explain the photo features a replica rather than the real 125-year-old statue, it was too expensive to scrap the stamps,

although It may have caused embarrassment for USPS, the slip-up has created nothing but pride in Las Vegas, Gordon Absher, spokesman for MGM Resorts International, said: 'Everyone thought the post office was honouring just one great American institution when in reality they were honouring two - the Statue of Liberty and Las Vegas,' all of that free publicity! who would have thought that stamp collecting could be so interesting?
