How Strange That Only Yesterday We Mentioned Lemons,

then today they are in the newspapers,

a lemon, a Meyer lemon and a mandarin above, for the normally bitter flavour is absent from the Meyer lemon a naturally occurring cross between a lemon and a mandarin, the fruit, native to China, was discovered growing by Dutch born Frank Meyer, an employee of the US Department of Agriculture who was exploring the country at the turn of the last century, Meyer imported the fruit into America in 1908 and it has gone on to become very popular as a culinary accessory, used in cakes and cocktails,

now the good news for people in the UK, supplies grown in California are now being shipped to the UK and will be stocked by Tesco from this weekend, Tesco citrus fruit buyer Tim Battey said: 'This fruit is a cook's dream as it has all the zestiness of a lemon but with the sweetness of a tart orange instead of a harsh sting', I wonder what it will taste like on my salads?
