Scissors, Scalpels, Paper And Glue,

plus endless patience and talent,

are what is needed to make,

 these incredibly detailed,

 paper sculptures,

 that literally,

leap from the paper at you,

they are the work of Calvin Nicholls, cutting and layering paper for works that escape from the canvas, the artist typically focuses his efforts on creatures from the animal kingdom, emulating the forms of nature only using one or two colours,

the Canadian artist says he enjoys white on white, in particular, “due to the emphasis which is placed on texture and form.” and amazingly even the smallest scraps of paper are used to give texture to the animals and birds he creates, amazing!
