Now I Have Nearly Caught Up With The Posts,

I thought I would take some time to play with my stamps,

but they are not stamps that you would use for posting, the first page above are charity stamps, all of these for the Prince of Wales Hospital Fund, the original stamps were printed for 1897 and 1898, then in subsequent years over printed with that years date,

the second page are 'give aways' for the 1908 Franco-British Exposition, all of the above are unperforated,

unlike the other 60 or so that I have,

and like the charity stamps they too are keepsakes and can not be used to post letters,

I was also lucky with this item,

the stamp album complete with 144 stamps titled, The Lord Roberts Memorial Fund for Disabled Soldiers and Sailors

on the first page King George V,

 and opposite a short biography,

this was repeated through the album,

the money raised was used to give comfort to men who returned home damaged by the war, the man himself, was Field Marshal Frederick Sleigh Roberts, 1st Earl Roberts VC KG KP GCB OM GCSI GCIE KStJ VD PC, he was a British soldier who was one of the most successful commanders of the 19th century,

so eyes down and lets get started,

and in case you were wondering what these on top of the album were, they are perforation counters, sometimes stamps look so similar it is the only way to tell one printer from another,

after our evening meal we watched the first episode of Peaky Blinders, the name of a gang in Birmingham, so called as razor blades were sewn into the peaks of their caps and then used as a weapon giving the user extra reach and always aiming for the opponents eyes, hence the name of the gang, it was so good we watched another two episodes, the series is set in Birmingham and has it's roots in the history of the times, to say it is good is a total understatement, it is excellent, everything, the backdrops, acting, storyline are all spot on, really enjoyable, think Boardwalk Empire, which we enjoyed so much, but set in England, with that we were off to bed.
