We Have Just Received Some News,

from one of our favourite chocolate suppliers,

regular readers will remember that occasionally we have a selection of chocolates sent down to us from Ocelot in Edinburgh, Scotland, and nice they are too, as it happens we also had them sent out to us when we lived in Thailand, they are so nice, we treat ourselves to one now and again as we are watching television,

and here is the good news, this is the message we received,

Dear Customer and friend of Ocelot,

We want to proudly inform you that Ocelot Chocolate and Original Beans have joined chocolate forces.

Ten years ago, Ish and Matt Broadbent launched Ocelot Chocolate from their kitchen table in Edinburgh. We couldn’t be prouder that Ocelot has grown to represent the artistic and culinary elegance of craft chocolate at its best.

For a moment, it looked as though the economic turbulence of 2021/22 would spell the end of this remarkable enterprise. Fortunately, we found a path forward - together.

Ocelot and Original Beans are now sister chocolate companies. Our teams have merged into one international team working in more than a dozen countries and representing as many nationalities.
What joins us all is a commitment to craft foods and chocolate, and making the world a better place. “Speak what’s true, eat what’s pure, preserve what’s rare” is an Original Beans’ motto. That sums it up nicely for us all.
We are currently working hard to restart the Ocelot production and offer you once again Ocelot’s art of chocolate in its signature eye-catching packaging made in Scotland.
We will make an announcement in the next two weeks as to when our online store will be back up and running.

Matt Broadbent Founder of Ocelot Chocolate

Philipp Kauffmann Founder of Original Beans

I have just looked in the refrigerator, we still have a Black Cherry and a Violet Milk left, so hopefully we will not run out before the online store is back up and running, for us great news indeed.

Dear Stanley and Diana
Special chocolate, like spiced rum are smaller things in one’s life but bring great pleasures. As I grow older, I find more joy and happiness in the smaller thrills of life vs the big events. You are the same given your happy ending to the Ocelot Chocolate story! Enjoy everyday!

Dear John and Alley, you are so correct, the small things in life bring so much joy to our everyday lives, small things as you say like a special bar of chocolates, a few roasted chestnuts whilst watching television, so many small things make all of the difference, best regards, Stan and Diana.
