It Was A Glorious Sunday,

warm, no wind, blue skies, birds singing, that sort of thing,

as I settled down to my Sunday read,

before a delicious crab claw salad,

'Cheers!',

after a long break our main course gammon ham, with gravy for Diana,

sans gravy for myself,

for dessert a treat we have not had in a long time,

sliced peaches and ice cream,

in the garden,

the foxes were almost in full force, the two adults, one with a damaged rear leg that was limping,

and one of the youngsters, also with a limp on the same rear leg,

they have learnt to make me take a guilt trip, every time I pass the window they stop and look,

so I just have to throw out another handful of peanuts, we spent the afternoon and early evening with Columbo, a few episodes we had not watched before, or a very long time ago, after a snack in the evening one of two films the first,

I had watched a small part of The Haunting, about 8 days ago before I left Diana watching it, as it happens she only watched a little more before looking at one of the Asian programmes she likes, the next day Diana mentioned she would like to see the whole movie, so I bought it on a DVD as I mentioned before apparently it was pretty scary dairy, this from one reviewer:

"After watching "The Haunting" 1963, I slept with my hands under the covers for 3 weeks. I was alone in the house, very late at night. Every sound amplified.. I was a full grown woman. For Pete's sake, I have watched almost every monster movie made. Even the original "Wolfman." Hummm, I could handle this. Wrong! I have never been so frightened in my life. Who or What was holding her hand??...The door at the top of the spiral stair almost gave me a stroke. This movie made a believer out of me. The sound effects, the lighting, the "breathing door", plus the fact it was Black and White.. The house, well don't ask me to attend a dinner party there. You will be eating alone. Perfect movie for Halloween. I give this movie a "10","

well it was pretty good considering its age, and what movie goers in 1963 were used to, we followed that with a real comedy,

Hot Shots! a total fun fest from start to finish, if you like word play and especially slapstick humor, almost a tribute in so many places to Laurel & Hardy, with Lloyd Bridges playing the accident prone Oliver Hardy, by now it was late, so for us we were off to bed.

Dear Stanley and Diana-
So, it seems you have more fox visitors than usual. Are they using the park as a permanent home? It seems you are getting some type of extended family so they should start coming around more often! Better buy a 25k bag of peanuts-haha.
I know for a long time no visits, now a clan! What changed to have this concentration of foxes by you? Interesting how nature works….
Not many weeks before the big trip this fall. We bet you are both excited and can’t wait.
Enjoy what is left of summer in London and then pack your bags!
Best

Dear John and Alley, the fox population seems to go from zero for a few months than to a maximum of 4, 2 adults and 2 younger ones, now we are down to just 3, one of the youngsters has not been here for a few weeks, I think they do not understand cars, one of the adults and one of the youngsters both have injured rear right legs and are lame, so I guess our peanuts are helping out as they both are at a disadvantage when it come to catching mice and birds, you may not believe this, but for years we have been buying bags of 25 kilos of peanuts, as it happens they arrive in 2 bags 12.5 kilos each, we always take a few with us when ever we go out to parks or for a drive. Yes the big one is nearly here, fights and hotels booked and paid for except Diana and some of her families hotel for when they pop over to Hong Kong, for myself I was going to pop to the Thai/Cambodia border to visit the very same 3 temple complexes that are at the center of the dispute, so I guess that trip is off! best regards, Stan and Diana.
