this is the letter that was sent to residents of Durham, of course there is a reason for this, allegedly bins are being stolen by other residents, so that makes the fines alright then! over here, council tax 40 baht a month (£0.81), bins emptied 3 times a week, no sorting of rubbish, but going back to the UK I wonder how long it will be before people tire of the bin police and decided to have a day in the country and dump their rubbish there? get away with it for over a couple of months and you would be in profit,
if you are going to be fined every week for leaving the wrong rubbish in the wrong bin or the lid does not close, if you leave the bin out too early or bring it in too late, leave an extra bag of rubbish by your bin, or the local kids deliberately have a bit of fun at your expense by putting the wrong rubbish in your bin or tipping it over you will soon have saved enough money to pay for 'fly tipping' if you are caught, not that I condone illegal activities, but I would think some hard pressed families would, imagine a nice day in the country, no sorting rubbish, no trips to the council recycling depot every time a new energy saver environmentally friendly light bulb fails, makes you think - about who you will vote for next time!
