Our Valentines Meal Out Started On Bit Of A Sour Note

we had booked a table at The Sunset at Bali Hai,
we had eaten there only a couple of weeks before and brought our usual 2 bottles of wine with us, the waiter said it was 400 baht for each bottle corkage, we pointed out only a couple of weeks ago it was 300 to which he replied oh yes 300, next moment a waitress rushed up and said 400, 400, and would not listen that we had already been told 300, she was insistent that that was it, well lets think about this a moment, for supplying 3 glasses and washing them up I feel that 600 baht is above what it should be, but 800? no way, especially if you think the most expensive meal in the menu is 595 baht, I should point out this is a tourist thing, Thai's are never charged in any way for bringing a bottle with them, greed, pure greed, rant over!
so we voted with our feet and went to Prechai, the girls were over the moon with the change of venue as they all love seafood, above Diana, Precil and Mas,
clams and mantis shrimps, I have tried the mantis shrimps before, but I think they are a bit of an acquired taste,
lobsters on the other hand I do like, but a tad on the expensive side,
I have never tried King crabs, it appears that they have little meat on them but they are prized for their eggs which the females carry at the front of their armored case,
plenty of dried squid,
Mick strikes the pose,
"Cheers!" from Jay, Me, Diana, Precil, Mas and Mick,
the sun on it's way down,
Taiwanese (I think) tourists taking pictures,
boiled prawns for starters,
and two bowls of green mussels,
fried phla kapong,
prawn dough-nuts, I had to take this picture quick as they were every ones favorite!
the sun almost gone,
Precil and Mas enjoying the food,
Diana and Myself,
curried crab, if you do not want the fiddle of cleaning it yourself, just ask and the staff will clean it for you,
prawn tempura,
Jay is the first to admit he does not like seafood, but although a little perplexed by the crab he enjoyed everything we had,
I am sure this one moved!
slipper or rock lobster in garlic,
the restaurant was full,
and a complimentary fruit desert.
