Here Are A Few Pictures,

of faceted pottery,


 whilst still in its soft, unglazed and unfired state, or raw ware as it is called,

 ceramic artist Abe Haruya sets about carving the surface of each piece with various metallic tools,

 many of the pieces are done freehand by sight, but some of the more complex scale-like patterns are first sketched with a pencil before Haruya carefully rakes across the surface to remove thin layers of clay,

I have posted these three short videos of him working,

I do not know why but there is something strangely satisfying watching them,

this the last, is a tad longer showing him throwing a pot, I am now totally relaxed.
