Day Six,

and we were Inverness bound,

just 110 miles away, but before we left Peter and Wendy who had been so kind to us,

and after breakfast,

we had one more look around their garden,

and where we were sitting yesterday,

Diana could not get over the apples,

and flowers that grew there,

it was soon time to say our farewells and thank both Peter and Wendy for their hospitality,

on the road again,

the sky a little overcast,

as we passed cattle,

and hay bales,

making our way towards the River Tay,

Ta-Da!

Peter and Wendy had told us about a place to stop at on our way to Inverness for a break,

which was what we were looking for,

by now it should be getting close,

all we have to lookout for is Garry,

but we could not find it,

I had started to second guess myself and think we had missed it,

and then there it was, the River Garry,

and just past it, The House of Bruar,

we parked up in the huge car park,

and wandered inside,

it is a shop that specializes in anything Scottish,

as well as having a restaurant,

cakes, yummy!

so a coffee it was then,

plus a cake and some shopping for Diana,

they also sell tress and shrubs,

and strawberries, so we just had to buy some to snack on,

on the road again,

the skie had started to brighten, and hardly any traffic,

we must be getting close,

and we were,

soon into the suburbs,

and our hotel for the night at the Travel Lodge, Ballantyne House at £67.00 including breakfast,

a nice room,

we dropped our bag in the room,

and we were out, past the church,

heading towards the River Ness,

and the footbridge over it,

for some reason it was a lot wider than I thought it would be,

the foot and bicycle bridge,

well I just had to have a pose,

on the bridge a look up,

and down river,

we are no on the far side looking back to where we crossed,

and towards Inverness Castle,

the red sandstone structure evident today was built in 1836 by architect William Burn,

it is built on the site of an 11th-century defensive structure, today, it houses Inverness Sheriff Court, I waited for a red bus to go by and it did!

we walked along the river opposite the castle,

taking photographs as we walked,

next decided to cross the roadbridge,

with its lovely hanging baskets,

with the castle behind them,

and one for the album,

into the town,

with all sorts of magnificent buildings,

and pedestrian walkways,

well it has got my vote!

the town is very hilly,

steps everywhere,

like these,

as we were walking up to the castle, this group of motorcyclist from Holland appeared, so many huge bikes,

more stairs,

this set to the market,

I am not sure where these lead,

getting closer now,

across the road,

and a rest, no not really Diana just wanted to take a photograph of me,

looking across,

and upriver to the footbridge,

there are painted squirrels all over town as a part of an art project,

we were just down there, taking photographs of up here,

looking down to the castle entrance,

the sheriff's office,

a quick pose,

by both of us,

and then time for our evening meal with some bubbly,

a pizza for Diana,

and a steak for myself, by now it was late, so we watched a film on cable and were then off to bed.
