Day Five,

after a good night's sleep,

we awoke to the delicious aroma of freshly baked bread,

 it was time for breakfast,

and what a spread awaited us!

everything was just so,

perfect in every way,

we both had fry ups,

with copious helpings of tea, coffee and so delicious freshly baked bread, Peter the owner had made such an effort to make us welcome and feel at home, thank you so much,

the stay was £87.00 including breakfast, and worth every penny, if we visit Scotland again on a driving holiday this is where we will be staying on our travels!

you may remember I mention that a small town up the coast from Arbroath is where smokies originated from, the town is called Auchmithie, and that is where we are going,

many years ago my parents would come here on our travels around Scotland calling in to see Peter's parents on the way,

passing through this tree lined avenue,

we are soon into the village,

turn left then park,

and here is the legend,

we walked into town,

past the water tank,

and some cottages,

the hotel where we used to stay,

behind it a few more cottages,

then the seaview,

we started down the pathway,

that was easy going, on the way down that is!

along the path,

there were a few tables and chairs in a viewing area, nice that you do not get in peoples way if you want to stop,

the stairs,

then join an unmade up road,

red sandstone cliffs in the distance,

and a panorama of the bay,

the sun kept playing peek a boo with us,

I was trying to get a photograph of all of the cliffe in full sunlight,

keep trying!

I am in the sun, so is the far cliff, but all of the others are in cloud,

keep trying, again!

never give-up, never surrender, where have I heard that before? (Galaxy Quest),

I felt like giving up,

but just then,

full sunlight on the sandstone,

looking back up at the rear of the hotel,

Diana walking the concrete,

and striking the pose,

next I wandered off,

taking more infrared photographs,

then up the pathway, not as easy as going down, I can not remember it being this steep, but then I was a lot younger then,

we made our way back past the water tower,

and past the cottages,

this one at the end reminded us both of Santorini, and some of the times we visited there,

back into the car,

we are now off to see Peter and Wendy in Meikleour, some 40 or so miles away,

on the way we kept passing so many tunnels for growing crops,

we had found out they were for strawberries,

the miles just flew past,

and we were soon at the home of Peter and Wendy,

and of course Rosie, we chatted the day away remembering happenings in the 1960s and 70s, and of course the latest news of Peters famous Jaguar, featured on the front cover of Jaguar Driver, you may remember it from our last visit to Peter and Wendy, thGrocott Jaguar, it was featured in a magazine in May this year, and made the front cover,

here is the cover, and the article,

an interesting car to say the least, and what a find,

we then went out into the garden,

which is a delight,

and what better way to have a chat than under the sunshade with a bottle of bubbly,

all around us,

flowers,

fruit,

and birds, even a couple of woodpeckers that come to the feeders, we were lucky enough to see them, but not so lucky as to get a photograph of them,

we keep saying it, if only we had a garden, but there it is,

in the evening we were out for a meal,

so group photographs,

we were off to the Meikleour Arms for our meal, just a short walk away,

smiles all round,

as we start to tuck in,

'Cheers!', from Peter and Wendy,

the food was excellent,

both the starters and the main courses

as too were the desserts,

delicious!

Peter and myself,

naturally rounded off the meal with a glass or two of port, we then staggered home for a good nights sleep.
