We Decided On A Walk In The Park,

we had not been out for a walk for over a week,

so out into the sunshine we went,

making our way past some of the other homes on our walk,

 instead of taking the road,

we went by the tree line,

one huge tree slowly being consumed back into the ground, it seem strange to be walking uphill to the pond,

 but there it is,

 unfortunately covered with a blanket,

 of a fern,

mosquito fern or duckweed fern as it is sometimes known, (Azolla filiculoides), covering the surface as it does, it is an invasive species, it stops oxygen and sunlight from penetrating, meaning that this is a dead pool, nothing lives or grows here except the fern, which is a shame, the problem is that once introduced it doubles its biomass every two to three days, making eradication difficult although not impossible, hopefully the powers that be will return this pond to its naturally beauty,

we walked towards the Mansion House,

past the left side of it, to the rhododendron garden,

 where many were in flower,

 a quick pose,

and we continued our walk past what was one the 9th and 18th hole,

 a bench,

not that I needed it, but I had to have a pose,

 as did Diana,

into the gardens behind the courtyard,

a nice show of miniature pansies,

the rear of the stable and courtyard buildings,

the air was filled with the aroma of hawthorn,

it seems such a shame that with all of this space, which was once the most profitable and popular public golf course in the UK, whilst you can sunbathe, the moment you stop and sit down to eat a sandwich and have a drink, you are committing an offence, hopefully in the next few weeks it will be OK for the two of us to have a picnic, it seems such a shame to waste all of that space,

we made our way past the open air swimming area, now closed of course,

 past the bar-b-q area,

photographed through the wire, the ducks seem happy not to have swimmers in the pool,

 we started our way back,

 through the dappled sunlight,

 the gateway in the distance,

 now into the road home,

 a quick pose,

not far now,

arriving home, feet up for Cornwall: This Fishing Life, we watched episode 6, the last in the series, and good the series was too, followed by a couple of game shows, after our evening meal our usual three games of cribbage, one from Sherlock Holmes and Poirot, then our film for the evening,

Ophelia, if you have not read Shakespeare, it is an easy going film, though way to modern in many of its nuances, but, if you have studied Shakespeare, Oh Dear, How Sad, Never Mind! move on, nothing here to see, a travesty, but there it is, I guess it made money which is the main thing, we round off the evening with one from New Tricks, next for us, we were off to bed.
