many cities were said to have streets paved with gold,
artist
Rachel Sussman brings the Japanese art of kintsugi which is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold and lacquer to the streets of some cities,
she has a series titled Sidewalk Kintsukuroi,
where she repairs streets then photographs them,
several of the photos from Sidewalk Kintsukuroi are currently on view as part of the Alchemy:Transformations in Gold at the Des Moines Art Center through through May 5,
2017, and before you set off with picks and shovels the repairs she makes are made with enamel
paint and metallic dust, you did not really think she used real gold did you?
