we picked up Nick and Maureen,
and made our way to the fishing park,
we almost had the lake to ourselves,
with just a few fellow fishermen further along the lake,
Nick was concentrating hard,
the score was soon 1 - 1,
the next slightly bigger one went to the kitchen, and here it is,
I was slowly increasing my lead, meanwhile Nick was having no luck with the tilapia, so he changed tactics, going back to tilapia for a moment, did you know that for a fish the same as we just ate, in one restaurant you would be charged $31.95, but it would be called Petrale sole and was claimed to be wild caught, not farmed as they are, the dish was served with lemon,
capers, dill, saffron, parmesan risotto and grilled asparagus, but it cost the restaurant a lot more, $120,000 to be exact, Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Deng said the District
Attorney’s office received a complaint in early 2016 claiming the restaurant
was serving the imposter fish and conducted a consumer investigation, Deng said
California health and safety codes strictly prohibit restaurants from
misbranding or falsely advertising the food they serve,
by changing tactics,
he caught a huge Iridescent Shark, (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) is also known as the Pangasius Catfish, the
Sutchi Catfish and the Striped Catfish there is also an albino iridescent
shark, this really
isn't a shark, it's a catfish, and there are so many ways to cook it, if you have local fish and chips or Dory and chips this is what you are eating out here, and the farming of them is a huge business in the Far East,
we settled on some fried rice, as it became late afternoon, the food here is excellent, if you fancy a day out the Paifon Fishing Park is off of Soi Nub Plan Wan, (spelt as it sounds), turn into the Soi from Sukhumvitt, once in the Soi go over the railway crossing and continue for a couple of miles, the road starts to go downhill, near the bottom of it you will see a big pink building on the left where we normally turn right into the old fishing park, do not turn right, keep going until you see Soi 24 and turn right, there is a 7-11 on the corner, continue for about a mile it is past Soi 14, the concrete road comes to a strange cross road,
take the one with the sign on it and the park is on the left hand side, and the score for today? I caught 15 or so more fish, nearly all keepers in rapid succession, literally as I recast another took the bait, and that was it for the day, the final score 17 - 3 to myself,
we stopped off at Nick and Maureen's for a coffee and cake,
the coconuts starting to form,
their tomato plants were considerably bigger than ours,
and staring to fruit, after a chat and some coffee and cake we then made a move for home,
where it time for our evening meal then feet up, for a game of The Chase on cable television followed by a few antiques shows, we rounded the evening off with the 2016 version of Jack Reacher, which was a good chase type movie, and with that we were off to bed.
