I sipped a pre-dinner sherry and took a few pictures of the fish, a fan-tailed goldfish, (Carassius auratus),
an angelfish, (Pterophyllum scalare),
and a new addition to the aquarium this week, a psychedelic blue eyed long finned flying snail, (Imadeit upperpuss),
for our roast this week we had beef,
'Cheers!',
after a long break, our desert,
apple and current crumble, with just a hint of cinnamon completed with custard,
and to round the meal off a small glass of port, what a perfect Sunday lunch,
we watched a couple of quiz shows in the afternoon, then decided on a treat, on one of our trips to the UK we had bought from the BBC the complete set of Black Adder, we always try to buy originals as coming from England and being made by the BBC the subtitles are spot on, we both find them handy, for myself I have to admit, my hearing is not as good as it was 40 or 50 years ago, also Diana finds the subtitles helpful as sometimes the dialog, good though she is at English, is sometimes too quick for her, so even though they are a lot more expensive to buy than copies, we pay for the added correct subtitles,
so you can imagine how disappointed we were when we found that the first disc did not play, and here is why, on the left of the picture some patterning has occurred which makes the disc unplayable, for some reason the discs the BBC used have not stood up to the test of time, just a few years old and scrap! for the money we paid for the original set from the UK, we could have, albeit with suspect subtitles, bought 3 or 4 sets here! with this experience I can see why so many people download films for free or by copies, if paying for an original like us is a waste of money,
the good news was that the second disc Black Adder II play flawlessly, as an aside this for me is one of the better reigns in which Black Adder stars,
to round of the evening we watched another few from Rome, and what a series this is turning out to be, we were going to have an early night, but we just had to watch another, so the midnight hour was well gone by the time we were of to bed.
