no wait a minute that was the song for when I was 21,
but yes today the 14th. April I am three quarters of a century old, the time has just flown past, it really has, back to Sunday morning I played with a few panoramas, the problem being over the years I had used 3 different cameras, which meant that when I enlarged them they were all the same length, but all slightly different heights, so I started to make them all the same, also in the one above I did not want Diana and the beach huts open doors in the picture when we hired a beach hut at Bournemouth,
so after a lot of trial by error I arrived at a print, that still needs a few tweaks,
the same for this shot of a lavender field at Castle Farm near Sevenoaks in Kent,
I changed the sky to give the appearance of late afternoon, but it still needs a few tweaks,
it was then time for our Sunday morning walk,
we made our way towards Stumps Hill in the park,
on the other side of the road, what we were looking for, the first of this years bluebells,
along the way a cherry tree putting on a good show,
more bluebells,
lots of them on the other verge,
as it happens it was a nice warm day,
looking to the right at Westgate Road,
we walked past the barrier to keep cars out of this side of the park,
and there the first showing of bluebells,
although to be fair I think another week would see a better showing of them,
we decided on a trail we had not walked before,
a robin called by, but before I could give him some nuts he was off,
many to look at here,
we made our way towards the mansion,
looking over one of the places we had a picnic a few years ago,
the refurbished stable block next to the mansion across the fairway,
we were into the valley if you can call it that of the River Ravensbourne that flows through the park,
we carried on down to the gate, deciding that we would call beck next week to see if more bluebells had opened up,
the homeward stretch,
Kai had beaten us home, she was having a Sunday roast with us, so first a read of the latest Private Eye and a sherry, before our starter of chicken liver pate and toast with a lettuce and onion salad, 'Cheers!',
and another one for our beef main course,
Kai had kindly bought a card as well as bottles of wine and some beautiful roses that I will make room for later,
after our meal we watched a afternoon of Columbo, then Kai made a move for her home, she is now sleeping by herself at her home, for us it was feet up for,
All Quiet On The Western Front, the 2022 version, a great movie, especially at the end of the film, where man's vanity cost so many needles lives, after which we were off to bed.

Dear Stanley and Diana-
Yes, time does fly by! Congratulations on your 75Th birthday and wishes for many more to come. 1950 seems like the dark ages now given all the world changes, improvements in technology, space travel, cell phones, etc. You are a month ahead of me so 75 is coming my way soon as well. Sometimes I feel like an old history book given all the great experiences over the years. We are on the last quarter of our life now, and so enjoy each day, have fun and don’t take things too seriously. We it will all work out in the end.
Happy Birthday Stan!
Best
John and Alley
Dear John and Alley, you are so correct, times have changed so much, back in the mid 1950s in the street where we lived a family flew to Spain!, it was the talk of the street for goodness knows how long, they actually flew in a plane! totally unheard of, a few years later my father received a car from his company, he sold industrial paint, one day he dropped me off at school in it, which caused quite a stir, after assembly I was summoned to the headmasters office, never a good thing especial in the days of public caning, (in front of the entire assemble school), for major misdemeanours, the headmaster wanted to know if my father was a bank manager, a headmaster or a doctor! at the time it was only 'professional' people that could afford the luxury of a car, it did not help that my fathers car was the latest Ford Prefect, the product line had just had a major revamp and a new body style, engine etc the headmaster had the same car but one model earlier, yes how times have changed! hoping that you will still be reading this when I am writing in 2050! best regards Stan and Diana.
