I Have Never Been A Fan Of Electric Cars,

from the way that EV owners turn a deaf ear and eye,

to the shocking child abuse that goes into the manufacture of their batteries, to the extra wear and tear the ultra heavy cars inflict on the roads, and then there is the cost of replacement batteries, as was once said, "nothing lasts forever" take the case of the parents of teenager Avery Siwinski, who bought her a second-hand EV Ford Focus for $11,000, with just 60,000 miles on the clock, all went well for 6 months and then, you guessed it, the battery gave out, grandfather Ray, stepped in to help, the bill for the new battery? $14,000, $3,000 more than they had paid for the car, and that did not include the charge for labour! It turns out according to the article this is allegedly a pretty much common problem among all Ford Focus EV owners, and now the real kicker, even if the family had both been willing and able to afford the battery and labour, there was not a replacement battery available to purchase in any case, the replacement battery pack is not available as the company has stopped making them, some would say built in obsolescence,

but as they say every cloud has a silver lining, Ford, aware of the ongoing problem regarding the unavailability of replacement batteries, offered to buy the car back for $500 which will be a nice deposit on another EV, note to EV Ford Focus owners, sell the car now before this news gets out! But that is one problem, (amongst many) of EV ownership, what happens when the manufactures stops making the batteries for your car? Ray gave a piece of warning news to everyone thinking to invest in EVs to a local news channel following all the trouble with her granddaughter, “If you’re buying a new one, you have to realize there is no second-hand market right now because the manufacturers are not supporting the cars.” for the full story have a look here, I have to say it, no EV car for us, as well as no Smart meters for our electricity!
