The Start Of Our Second Day,

in sunny Bournemouth,

glad rags on,

a quick pose,

and we were on our way,

but before heading to town,

a slight detour,

to look at these igloos, we had reserved one in London, but it like our booking at the Shard, had been cancelled due to the last lockdown,

past the Eye,

and into the park,

along a walk we had not made before,

the park,

and town,

pretty much deserted,

when we saw this display last night, we wondered what it was,

but it is plain to see in the daylight, a polar bear and a igloo,

the presents,

piled high,

as always there was a nice display of non-native plants in the grounds,

the rockery,

with its small stream looking nice,

Diana wrapped up against the cold,

and it was,

as we made our way along the front,

very grey and overcast,

but it did not dampen the sprits of the wind surfers,

a quick pose,

and Diana was off along the sands,

it must be cold, even the dogs are wearing coats!

Dina was soon catching me up,

our hut in sight,

breakfast for today, hot tea and a bacon sandwich,

looking outside,

the sun trying to break through as a windsurfer takes to the waves,

we decided on a walk and a coffee on the pier,

the beach cleaned overnight, or early morning,

surfers in the background,

on the right, the zipline closed for the winter,

I think bigger waves might help,

although this one looked sort of the right size,

past the sports centre,

and into the restaurant at just past the middle of the pier,

complete with a well stocked bar,

a quick pose,

and a 'Cheers!',

coke for Diana as we waited for the food to arrive,

another pose,

oh-ar! first of the day!

well I had to have a pose as well,

Diana's coffee arrived,

for some reason I fancied an orange juice,

back to Diana, her coffee was piled high with cream and on her side chocolate,

guess who was wearing a chocolate cream moustache?

heaven knows what I was thinking ordering an orange juice, back to the proper stuff,

Diana thought about it, but beer is definitely not her drink!

we continued our walk to the end of the pier,

taking in the fresh sea breeze,

looking back to the huts,

a full length pose from myself,

well I had to have a close up,

this chap had dropped the fish a few lines, but no replies so far,

a rest,

we walked around the base of the zip line stand,

and restaurant,

and started back towards the shore,

beach huts stretching for miles along the front,

we pretty much,

had the pier to ourselves,

not a soul in sight,

by now the sun was getting low,

but that did not deter,

the surfers from trying their luck,

and this one had it just right,

paddle back and try it again,
great wave, but no surfers,

I am sure this guy knew we were taking photographs,

he came straight at us,

when I saw this chap sitting on his chair,

I could not help thinking of the phrase from the book and film, Far From The Madding Crowd,

back to the hut for a coffee and a game of cribbage,

past the Eye,

and club,

to the hotel for a wash and brush up, before we were out for our evening meal,

to an Italian restaurant, Cristallo

inside very spacious, but then with social distancing I guess most places are,

for a change, after trying the advent bubbly calendar Diana had bought for me,

I decided on a rosy bubbly,

which Diana tried, but was not too keen on,

the uncharitable would say more for me!

'Cheers!',

for our starters Diana chose a spaghetti course,

for myself prawns on a tangy spicy sauce,

'Cheers!', from Diana,

on to our mains, a huge pizza for Diana, lamb cutlets for myself,

followed by coffees,

a latte for Diana, a Jamaican for myself, what a lovely meal, the waiter and waitress made such a fuss over us, it really was the most friendly of places, the meal came to just over £60, which we thought very reasonable, out next stop the hotel and a nightcap before another from New Tricks when we were then off to bed.

Fun to go to the seaside off season. Cool winds, few people and cloudy skies, but still a fun place to go and expore. Did you ride the EYE? Alley and I would love to try Cristallo Italian...food and drinks looked warm and inviting...tasty! Nice you could take a few days away from the flat and Diana's work to enjoy the easier side of life. Your folks were smart to dress warm...how about those surfers..wow.
