We Often Feature Street Art,

but here is a slightly different take,

 transformer art,

German transformer stations display artistic paint jobs that beautify their surroundings while discouraging graffiti artists, “Transformatorenstation” is German for “transformer stations”, formerly known as “substations” before the advent of large electric power plants altered their prime function to be power distribution stations,

while this practice is cheaper, the stations are extremely alluring to graffiti artists due to their being “blank canvases” in public view, thus, locally sponsored initiatives that enlist artists to paint the stations save money in the long run, as less funds need to be expended on graffiti removal,

this “trafostation” (to use the German short form) celebrates amongst others the long maritime tradition in the Baltic Sea port city of Rostock,

thanks to Flickr members Patrick in July of 2014 and Victor Valore (PowerSubShot) in February of 2018, and Wismar-based artist Christian Pursch of TEML-Designs, I wonder if we will see more of these in other country’s?

Would You Pay To Stay In A Jail?

well the hope is that some people will,

 when Bodmin Jail is refurbished,

the vision for the jail is to return this much understated heritage asset of national importance to its former glory,

and in so doing make it a leading visitor attraction, venue, hotel and teaching facility for local schools and universities that gives back to Bodmin, Cornwall and the UK,

Twelve Architects is leading the consultant team which includes Sarner International, Montagu Evans, Arup, Turner & Townsend, and Astute Fire to prepare proposals for the alteration, extension and change of use of the Grade II listed buildings at Bodmin Jail, would you stay there?

I guess it will seem strange to stay in a a place that most people that have stayed there want to get out of!

Yet Again,

my record with things electrical,

has come back to haunt me, my telephone again refused to switch on, so parking up next to The Grand Day/Night Hotel,

we dropped it off at TukCom,

as we were out we decided to call into Makro, for some boxes of red wine, but alas, the red was sold out, so we just bought 2 boxes of white,

in the late afternoon, we called back to TukCom and for 400 baht my telephone was back to itself, next a couple of plumbers called by, where the mains water goes into the water tanks, the plastic 'T' had cracked and was leaking, so it had to be replaced,

they say curiosity killed the cat, well all of the coming and going of the plumbers caught the attention of the 4 kittens, who all came out of hiding to see what was going on,

after our evening meal and watching a few quiz shows, we decided to round the evening off with In the Heart of the Sea, a great real life adventure, the film was gripping, cruel and life like, for the true story this article from The Telegraph gives an account that is very informative, at least a one mug of coffee read, and is the story that a whale sunk whaling ships true? the story, first recorded by newspaper editor Jeremiah Reynolds, tells of a mammoth white whale near Isla Mocha, off the Chilean coast, that was famed for assailing whaling ships, (As you probably have guessed, Melville took even more of his inspiration from the Mocha Dick legend than the story of the Essex), the whale was said to have sunk some 22 whaling ships between 1810 and 1830, and as if to confirm the number of whaling ships sunk footage captured by the Sonne, a research vessel mapping a deep-sea canyon near Isla Mocha, revealed a graveyard of whaling ships thousands of meters down, a vengeful whale, not a creature to mess with! and with that we were off to bed.

I Always Look At Ladybugs,

as a gardeners friend,

but you can have too much of a good thing, this unusual sight was recently reported by wildlife photographer Steve Chapple, who posted several photos and a video of it on his Facebook page, millions upon millions of Ladybugs, in some places 4 or 5 inches deep, the ladybirds are massing under a remote radio tower near Mount Burr in South Australia, with the location also attracting visitors keen to see the unusual sight,

"I’ve always been astounded by the numbers out there but this year was just phenomenal," Chapple said. "They’re there all day. They swarm during the middle of the day and then they land back in the crevices, the cracks, the pipes during the dark. This is the thickest I’ve ever seen them." as for the reason why so many ladybugs are meeting at a radio tower in the middle of nowhere, experts say it’s hard to tell, University of Adelaide professor Andy Austin has two theories, “Two likely reasons are they are mating aggregations that attract beetles to one spot, essentially to make it easier to find a mate,” he told ABC, “The second possible reason is that it is for protection against predators, particularly birds.” millions of Ladybugs in one place, how absolutely amazing!

I Am Sure,

we have all done something,

 stepped back and thought,

 what was I thinking?

to be fair I think I would have noticed a few of these,

before committing myself,

 into,

as they say, painting myself into a corner!

There Are Football Fans,

and there are ones that go the extra mile,

like a die-hard fan of Turkish soccer club Denizlispor, 37-year-old Ali Demirkaya, a.k.a. ‘Amigo Ali’ is well-known as one of Denizlispor most fanatic supporters, and this weekend he proved his love for the club once again, literally going above and beyond just to see the team play Gaziantepspor, following his involvement in an incident that occurred during one of Denizlispor’s games in 2015, Demirkaya was banned from entering his team’s stadium for one year, well that was not going to let him miss a game, so he spent a few hundred dollars on an industrial crane, climbed onto a man-basket and asked the operator to lift him high up above the stadium, from where he could watch the game,

unfortunately, Amigo Ali couldn’t remain in the spotlight for too long as police quickly arrived on the scene and asked the crane operator to lower the soccer fanatic, interestingly, this wasn’t the first time that Ali Demirkaya rented a crane to bypass his ban,

He did the same thing in February, and police had to bring him down as he was drawing too much attention, at the time, he told fan website Denizlispor20 that he was also considering renting a balloon or a para-glider, so he could watch his team’s matches from above without the police ruining the experience,

but for now here is his crane watching experience.

Sam Is Celebrating His 100th,

but something is not quiet right,

it is not his 100th birthday,

Sam is celebrating his 100th day at school, Sam's school celebrated the 100th day of class by having the students dress like they were 100 years old, fortunately for the assignment, Sam has a mother who is an experienced face painter, and he was overdue for a haircut,

so the day before, he got half of a haircut, a reverse Mohawk, and in case you are wondering Sam is just 7 years old, you can see a few more pictures of him here.
