I Am Only Making One Post Again Today,

for some reason,

everything seems to be taking an age, I tested my Internet connection and found this result, Ping 11ms, Download 33.93 Mb/s, Upload 7.30 Mb/s, so I guess that is normal, but it has still taking from before 06.00 AM this morning until 09.27 nearly three and a half hours to upload just the pictures before actually start typing this! anyway back to yesterday,

we decided on an early start to visit the Mayfield Lavender Farm

and nice the lavender was too,

and it was a good job we made an early start,

at first we had the field pretty much to ourselves,

 hardly a soul in sight,

 but as time moved on,

  it soon became crowded,

 but there were still,

 a few places without people,

the big tree in the distance, only a few people there,

unless you do not mind people in your pictures,

but if you do then a stroll,

  along the aisles of lavender,

  taking a few photographs,

  as we went,

 with just the,

 occasional pose,

  or two,

 or three!

 enough already, my turn now,

yes that was it, just the one,

we were blessed with a glorious day,

  so off we went,

 looking for the densest,

 aisles of lavender,

as an aside I am guessing this will be nice for the next month or so,

 if you fancy visiting,

but there are two other fields, which are only just beginning to flower,

so the flowering will go on for quite some time,

the other fields start at the top of the hill in the distance,

and continue on down on the other side,

we made our way, to one of the staged attractions,

 away from the tree,

  to the telephone box,

apart from a red double decker AEC Routemaster bus, and if buses are you thing do not forget join the Routemaster Association, their claim, 'the largest single bus association in the world',

I can think of nothing more iconically British to put in the field,

 the tree way off now,

and it was getting busy, for the season eating places have been set up, but remember picnics are not allowed,

 good Lord,

 my turn again,

I had better make the most of this!

now which is my best side?

 photographs taken,

so coat on and back to the car,

just a small point there are bees here, thousands of them, so if you are bee sting intolerant stay in the car!

it was a good job we came early,

bearing in mind it was not a busy weekend, but a weekday, as we made our way back to the car the parking area along the side of the field it was full,

the cars now parking well past the big tree,

a queue developing at the telephone box, I should say that coaches were pulling up outside and dropping tour groups off with almost alarming regularity, considering how small the roads are in the area I can imagine the place becoming gridlocked at the weekends,

 all aboard for the hayride!

we were here for a snack,

 but first a look around,

at insectivorous plants firstly some pitcher plants, (Sarracenia),

  Venus fly traps, (Dionaea muscipula),

   and lastly,

Monkey cups, (Nepenthes),

 next cactus,

a nice display for a conservatory, or small room,

 outside,

flowers in a riot of colours,

  these Gazanias,

for us were partially nice,

this year it seems to be,

 the year of the Hydrangeas

  they seem to be everywhere,

 and some even bi-coloured,

we both enjoy looking around nurseries so much,

as we keep saying, 'if only we had a garden',

here they seem to be pushing the boat out,

when it comes to garden ornaments,

some not so realistic as others,

apart from friends the one thing we do miss about Thailand,

is our cats,

and there are plenty here to chose from, and puppies too,

 these look familiar,

just like the owl and fox I have upstairs,

tin ducks and goodness knows what else,

 lizards anyone?

 and a choice of colours,

as we made our way back inside, we passed a few flamingos,

then time for tea and cakes, well coffee actually,

a caramel cake for Diana, and a rock cake for myself, I had not eaten one of those in years,

  then off to Currys,

for a couple of AAA size batteries, the ones in the infrared controllers had not lasted,

 next stop IKEA,

we were two picture frames short for our wall of photographs,

the day had raced past, so now for our evening meal we started with a prawn cocktail,

 'Cheers!',

I should have mention we had garlic bread as well,

the flowers this week looking and smelling nice as we had bought some stocks, (Matthiola incana/ longipetala),

 for our main course, steaks,

and to round off the meal some strawberries and cream we had bought at Woodcote, crikey I have just looked at the time, from start to finish this is the longest post I have ever made just over 5 hours, I must be doing something wrong, I just wish I knew what! we listened to music on our new Bush Retro blue tooth speaker and remarkably good it was too, for the rest of the evening, as the midnight hour approached we were then off to bed.
