I popped down to the shop for some RO water,
it was a cold day -4 C last night, clear blue skies meant it might be cold but it was a bright day,
passing the green, the grass covered in frost,
alighting at the bus stop by This 'N' That I popped in to have a chat with the owner,
a quick look at the Indian restaurant next door, we will be back!
outside Reynard the Fox, made a brief appearance in the back garden,
as it happens from Wikipedia:
‘Reynard
is from Reginhard, Raginohardus "strong in counsel". Because of the
popularity of the Reynard stories, renard became the standard French word for
"fox", replacing the old French word for "fox", which was
goupil from Latin vulpēcula. Since Reynard has been written about in many
different times and places across the world, it is not uncommon to see changes
in his appearance to fit the natural surroundings of his story’,
in the afternoon Diana arrived home, she was exhausted, so much travel in just a few days, after a coffee and a chat we decided on a meal out, well it was our wedding anniversary! we choose our favorite Indian restaurant,
the Kathmandu Masala,
which I should say specialises in Nepalese cuisine as well as Indian,
'Cheers!', with a sherry, along with our poppadum's,
for Diana lamb samosas,
for myself a prawn puri,
a drizzle of lemon,
one of the waiters kindly offered to take our photograph,
our main courses arrived, I had already started on the wine!
we choose one of each dish, a prawn, chicken and lamb,
plus mushroom and peas pulao rice and a nan bread, we followed that with a Indian dessert for Diana and a Calypso coffee for myself, the food as usual was excellent, the bill came to £106.00 including service charge,
arriving home as it was a celebration I opened a Christmas present that Steve and Kai had bought for me, a bottle of Kraken,
and carefully poured it into the special glass that accompanied it,
'Cheers!', after which Diana was so tired she went to bed, for myself a film,
a favorite film of mine, Sir Henry at Rawlinson End, there are some films that I like so much I just have to watch them over and over again, Sir Henry at Rawlinson End is one of them, this is what I wrote about it when we watched it before,
'what can one say about Sir Henry at Rawlinson End, not so much a black and white movie, more sepia toned, so many wonderful lines,
'If I had all the money I'd spent on drink, I'd spend it on drink,'
sounds like me! the film is totally mad, Vivian Stanshall narrated and starred in the movie, as it happens I saw him live in The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, when they performed at the Goldsmiths Collage in New Cross, and here is a piece of trivia, the real Sir Henry Rawlinson, of whom Viv was unaware, died exactly 100 years to the day before Viv. the film you will love or hate, I loved it,
the one great thing about Sir Henry is that he combines his interests with a passion, take the still above from the movie, he takes three of his favourite vices, boats, a Purdey shotgun and his couple of drink optics placed on the side of the boat, what could possibly go wrong? again for me a great totally mad movie, after which I too was off to bed.
