so we had a day out,
we decided against London, no tubes running and the queues for buses way too long,
so out of the park,
and on to a number 54 bus, seats at the front,
we had the whole top deck to ourselves,
through Bellingham,
and Catford,
to Lewisham market, the original market moved to make way for a new pavement to be laid,
the market now next to the bus stops,
alighting at Lewisham, I was so pleased to see this sign back outside of Lewisham station, I had thought it had been nicked, but here it was back again,
on this side we stopped for a look at the greengrocers,
a bit early for cob nuts, maybe next month,
I nearly popped inside the book shop, but decided against it,
over the heath it was,
a pose in front of the church,
and we were away,
across the heath,
with crows following us all of the way,
into Greenwich Park and past the gate house,
looking into the park,
the sweet chestnut trees,
were laden with seed pods,
so much so they were bringing the branches nearly to the ground,
a quick pose,
and we were on our way,
walking through the avenue of horse chestnut trees,
we nearly had the park to ourselves,
arriving at The Pavilion Café,
we went inside,
for a coffee and for Diana a cake,
snack over out to the top of the hill,
looking towards,
the old power station,
and the O2,
well I just had too!
we made our way to the stairs and pathway down the hill,
it was a glorious day,
as (I always say when looking at this view), ancient and modern in one photograph,
and here she is,
Diana in close up,
note to self, do not shoot into the sun!
that's better,
and guess what?
another one for the family album, if such things are still kept nowadays,
at the bottom of the hill,
through the gates,
and past The Kings Arms, where we had a meal on one of our previous trips,
into the square,
and Oliver Bonas,
well Diana was,
I looked here,
at the entrance to Greenwich Market,
I thought this rather neat in the Bonus window, a noodle bowl with cut outs to take chopsticks, how neat is that?
into the market,
but first a look in the window of the music shop on the left,
a great play on words on the card,
not as many stalls as a Friday, Saturday or Sunday,
but the ones that were here,
were selling all manner of goods,
mostly from a bygone era,
but this one selling wire models made today, (or last week),
Diana was wandering around,
with our holiday fast approaching I wondered about a pair of sandals,
but somehow I can not see me in these,
out of the market and a walk around the square,
where somebodies coach holiday,
has gone mustang,
looking towards the church,
for our lunch,
'Cheers!', as our food arrived,
and there was lots of it, Vietnamese rolls, salted spicy spare ribs,
prawn and beef noodle soup for Diana,
chicken noodle soup for myself,
along with half a crispy aromatic duck,
what a feast!
another 'Cheers!', before we started on our food,
after the noodles and the pork ribs we started on the duck, it was all delicious, and we have some for tomorrow evening as well, the bill including service charge was £75.75,
we were so full we could not even think about a ice cream in a shop nearby, as we arrived at the bus stop a friend of ours from the park was waiting there, Eddie who I was only chatting to the evening before on my way to the club, we caught the same bus saying farewell half way though the journey as he had another place to visit, arriving home it was feet up for a coffee, Diana went to sleep for a couple of hours, another 04.00AM start tomorrow, I watched some television until she woke up in time for a Outback Opal Hunters and a Deadliest Catch, which we followed with,
The Running Man, great fun watching a young Arnie, the film has apparently become a cult classic, next a short film,
The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, a really enjoyable film, after which as Diana has a early start she was off to bed,
for myself MIB III which was a nice sequel to I & II after which I too was off to bed.
