The BT Saga Continues,

yesterday BT told me that they would call today,

but first I must mention that I will only be making one post today, as soon as I post this I will be off to visit Duncan, back to Tuesday, BT actually said they would call in the morning, well they did not, and I as I did not want to spend another day waiting in a queue to speak to somebody, I did not call them, a job for Thursday! why do I always seem to have so much trouble with this sort of thing? I whiled away some of the day waiting by playing World of Battleships, as it happens I somehow, although not paying, was awarded a extra ship, so I now have 4 destroyer like ships I can get blown out of the water on! although saying that I am now on the winning team more often than not,

in the afternoon I watched Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, followed by my evening meal, for the rest of this week all of the quiz shows we normally watch have been cancelled for the showing of Royal Ascot, some sort of horse race, so a Fred Dibnah it was then, which I really enjoyed as he took his traction engine on a tour of Industrial cites and towns, after which I popped downstairs to take a few photographs of todays work on the scaffolding,

at the rear the end of the building has been reached,

 on three levels,

at the front the righthand side scaffolding has been erected,

three levels almost finished,

coming to the end of the building, I am guessing the final end of the building will be started over the next few days, back inside it was time for a Midsomer Murder, during which Diana arrived home, so we rounded off the evening with a New Tricks, before we were off to bed.

Dear Stanley and Diana
Have been following your BT situation since January. Same type of responses from most of our utility and communication groups in USA. In past there was competition between smaller businesses so good follow up on customer service was the norm. Gradually, the federal government allowed huge mergers between companies resulting in monopolies. Once the company became the only 1-2 available, prices went up and services went down. Employees not held accountable and everything runs on autopilot. When you want a change, it is not possible. The companies have no incentive to help you as you are stuck with whatever they want to do. Capitalism is a good thing in regional markets. Federal government protection to public should include limiting mergers so capitalists can’t nationalize or globalize thus preventing monopoly situations. Problem is politicians love money and are willing to support mergers from their special interest groups in exchange for campaign contributions. So now folks in both Britain and America have been completely sold out by federal governments and Politicians to the few monopolies left. These companies then abuse their customers, knowing they they have no choice or alternatives. Only saving grace is new technology that can replace services using a different system. This always takes a long time to implement meanwhile the consumer struggles.
Same situation applies to hotel chains and rates, nationalized transportation, natural gas, electricity on and on. So in the end we all vote with our wallets to curtail those non essential activities-just like your trip to get away.
Right now in USA Kroger Grocery and Albertsons Grocery (2 largest grocers in USA) are merging. So all here expect food prices to increase. ALDI and LIDI groups building here but still very limited locations. Majority can’t shop there so are stuck with the 2 big guys becoming one. How can the federal government allow such a venture. Well, there it is! Corruption in the open. Most here either hate the government or are brain dead.
Yes Stan, the golden era is gone!
We work to limit support of monopolies and continue to streamline and simplify our lives to avoid stress and time consumption by disconnecting and discontinuing. We have stopped overnight travel due to poor airline service, terrible hotel experiences and cost, bad food and only tourist traps at the destinations. Hell of a new world!!!
Take care-
John and Alley

Dear John and Alley, it is true competition has gone the way for the dodo, remembered but no longer with us! good news that ALDI and LIDI are arriving not only are their products so much cheaper, they have brought the other chains prices down, everyday there are advertainments on the television where the big chains are showcasing deals that are as cheap as ALDI and LIDI, before the big chains could charge what they liked but no more! but without ALDI and LIDI would prices in the big chains have come down? I think not! after Diana has left for work today I will start again to join the queue to talk to BT, I am not looking forward to it! best regards, Stan and Diana.
