We decided to catch a bus,
to go to Blackheath,
getting off the number 54 in the village,
and walking past the church on the heath,
across to Greenwich park,
which looking at these trees,
goes back more than a few hundred years,
the last time we were here everything was in flower and bursting with new growth,
but not today,
the world famous Greenwich Observatory,
we are at the top of the hill looking down towards the National Maritime Museum, designed early in the 1600s by Indigo Jones,
looking towards Greenwich power station and the O2, you may remember our last walk here, when we traced the footpath to both places, in July 2016,
the girls at the observatory,
we started making our way downhill,
passing some of the now leafless trees,
to the main gate,
leading past the Greenwich Tavern,
and towards Greenwich Square, where there is amongst other shops, one selling nautical items,
called surprisingly enough Nauticalia,
as well as marine items the shop also has other items of interest, like these Galileo thermometers,
there is a passageway,
that leads to Greenwich covered market,
where all manner of shops abound, like this one selling studio spot lamps,
hairbands,
clocks,
and bow ties,
this one more in the girls taste, handbags,
and speaking of taste,
the macaroon stall caught the girls attention,
yummy!
back to the other stalls, coloured pottery ware,
then this stall caught my attention,
with a tot of rum, just what the doctor ordered!
we had eaten at the Green Village before,
this time we decided on a Chinese style meal,
so we settled on a restaurant named Saigon,
we started with prawn tempura,
and chicken and sweetcorn soup,
and you know what is coming next,
Peking duck!
a little soi sauce in Steve's soup,
then grab a pancake roll, add sauce, cucumber and spring onions,
and duck and hey presto,
next main courses,
and they were huge,
'Cheers!',
our next port of call,
both Steve and myself like browsing through CDs,
we walked back past the market,
where I spotted this highly colorful van,
the next market along,
which was open air,
mainly selling bits and pieces,
like these,
but this stall caught my eye,
selling paper cut out models,
they looked really neat,
and looking closely at them,
were very finally detailed,
there were lots of them,
and at just £3,
for this one I thought great value for money, when you stop to think of the work that goes into them,
they are made by bobomisscard, but their website seems to be down, and no I am not on commission, I just thought the origami cards were great fun,
we made our way to the bus stop,
passing these planters on the way,
with pansies in early flower,
it was getting cold,
we stopped to have a look at another market,
and fruit stall,
with all manner of strange fruits on offer,
but this jackfruit I did recognize, arriving home after our evening meal it was feet up, then for all of us after our evening film we were off to bed.
