are easy to see from the ground,

but even more so when seen from the air, like these of the construction of the Beijing Daxing International Airport 2012-Present, 

in a follow-up to the 2016 book Overview featuring stunning imagery of the Earth from above,

 Overview Timelapse: How We Change the Earth, is the new book by overview founder Benjamin Grant and writer Timothy Dougherty, they have teamed up to examine some 250 new satellite images that capture the remarkable changes currently taking place all around us from a dramatic macro perspective,

the Daily Overview is an immensely popular Instagram account started by Grant in 2013 that shares a fascinating overview photograph each day. Overview Timelapse is currently available for pre-order on Bookshop, when I see images like these I always wish I had bought a drone or hired a satellite!

Where Have You Seen This Googly Eyed Creature Before?

if you read this post, above is a bakers representation of the upcoming 2025 Osaka Expo logo, by Kenta Matsunaga, who runs a bakery in Tokyo called Boulangerie BASSE, who created this baked bread version of the logo,

this from Naoki Saito, who is an official Pokemon Card illustrator, who created this takoyaki-themed illustration, the public quickly warmed to Inochi no Kagayaki-chan, an endearing nickname borrowed from the Expo’s theme, and opened their arms to it. From illustrators and bakers to knitters, remix culture quickly set in and social media has been buzzing with creations,

and here are a few more, this showing Expo 1970 meets Expo 2025 in this illustration by Itotani Siren,

manga artist Tsukumizu, known for the manga series Girls’ Last Tour (少女終末旅行), created this illustration,

and finally Yoshieda Seisakujo knitted the logo, but as you can imagine by now there are literally thousands of takes on the goggled eyed logo!

 

Although Not Actually Fossils,

as in bones or say teeth,

  photograph Stephen Rowland/Grand National Park, after a land slip, a boulder with fossilized tracks was revealed, park officials said in a news release last Thursday, the fossil footprints are about 313 million years old, according to researchers, “These are by far the oldest vertebrate tracks in Grand Canyon, which is known for its abundant fossil tracks” Stephen Rowland, a paleontologist at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, said in the news release. “More significantly, they are among the oldest tracks on Earth of shelled-egg-laying animals, such as reptiles, and the earliest evidence of vertebrate animals walking in sand dunes.” apparently the footprints are the oldest recorded tracks of their kind, the tracks were in plain view for many hikers, but weren’t discovered until Allan Krill, a Norwegian geology professor, was hiking with students and saw a boulder containing “conspicuous fossil footprints,” park officials said, researchers said the footprints show two separate animals passing on the slope of a sand dune, which is significant because of the “distinct arrangement of footprints.”

I Am Only Making One Post Today,

as it took a bit of time,

we started at Beckenham Junction, then bought coffees at Bromley South,

and hurtled towards,

Ashford International, where we change trains again, we were on our way to Deal, Diana has still not quite got use to my new look, with one of my front teeth missing,

as the short clip above shows,

we arrived and made our way down from the station,

through the pedestrianized High Street,

across the road,

where we saw a meet and greet, 

with one of the local Bobbies and I am guessing a councilor, were having a walk about,

we continued to the sea front,

passing some rather attractive planted displays, 

and clothes shops,

time for a pose,

at the area at the front of the pier,

we decided to walk along the seafront first,

time for another pose,

the restaurant we wanted to look at in the distance,

we passed a few others,

but first a jump down onto the shingle,

and a look at the restaurant on the end of the pier,

Diana and seagull,

and his friends,

the pier was remarkably bare, most other piers we have visited had candy floss or doughnuts stalls, plus cafes and souvenir shops, and delicious Mr. Whippy ice cream, but not so here, but there may be some stalls behind the restaurant we can not see, we will have a look later, 

onwards,

towards the restaurant,

but alas it was not to be, they were fully booked,

so we walked to the Beach Road, where I spotted this shop,

selling books, unfortunately closed,

we looked further along the road, but as far as we could see there were no more restaurants,

so for us on to the pier,

looking back towards the beach,

we almost had the pier to ourselves, which did not bode well for seeing any stalls on the pier,

and we were right, a total waste of space, except the restaurant which had a queue waiting for a table,

we made our way back,

looking towards the shore,

a quick pose,

in the distance,

this looked interesting,

as did this eatery,

but first a pose,

or two,

we had a look at the menu,

and decided to try here,

at Dunkerley's,

and we were in luck, there was a table for us,

note to self, remember not to smile until the tooth is fixed!

we relaxed and chatted,

as our first course arrived, seafood lasagna for Diana, traditional fish and chips for myself,

'Cheers!',

the restaurant was very nicely laid out, the waiter and service perfect,

and the food excellent, we as always have a long break,

before our desserts, a raspberry brulee for Diana, and this summer pavlova for myself, all so delicious, the bill with a bottle of wine and a coke for Diana came to £57.00, which considering it is a seaside town and we were at the front we thought was very reasonable, 

well I had to have a pose well!

we continued our walk past The Port Arms,

that had masses of seating outside,

I had to take a close up of one of the window boxes, they all looked so nice,

we passed the Time Ball Tower Museum, 

where Diana had to have a seat on the anchor outside,

empty seats looking out to sea, you guessed it, it had started to rain,

so hoods up, well for Diana, I just got a wet head,

we made our back towards the pier and railway station,

passing the now disused cinema,

I had to have a look in here, and they did in fact have a rather nicely restored Ariel twin, but no indication of price and they were closed, so I could not inquire,

we passed this brightly painted pub,

the Walmer Castle,

a quick look at the antiques shop,

then passing the grocers,

it was time to buy a refrigerator magnet, I looked at this shipwreck map in the window,

whilst Diana popped inside,

and then here we were,

at Deal railway station, what a lovely day, walking along the front and what an excellent restaurant,

Diana settled in for the journey back, we arrived home just after 7.00 in the evening,

after putting the magnet on its new home we had a evening of Murder and Mystery, starting with one from Poirot, followed by a Midsomer Murder, and rounding off the evening with one from New Tricks, then for us we were off to bed.
