of devotion, trial and terror,
this is a documentary directed by Ben Proudfoot and Kris Bowers that visits
the unassuming warehouse where student instruments are
maintained, back in 1959 the Los Angeles public school system started to provide
musical instruments to students, for no charge, this video goes to the place that
maintains them, tens of thousands of young musicians learn to play the
saxophone or tuba on borrowed equipment, it is titled The
Last Repair Shop and can be viewed here, “This is not just a musical instrument repair shop. When an
instrument breaks, there’s a student without an instrument,” says Steve, a
piano technician and the workshop supervisor. “No. Not in our city.” it is a moving video, in my humble opinion well worth watching.
