The First Snow Of 2024!

and here it is,

I know, you have to look carefully,

we seldom see snow here, and as it does not have a major impact in the area it is nice to see, the pity for us is it did not settle, but there it is, first thing I was down into cellar with Maggie and Len, who decided the job of clearing the cellar was too big for him, so we will have to find someone else, after which when I returned upstairs Diana was off to work, I also had a few other things to do in the morning, in the afternoon I decided to complete part 9 of our trip to the live fish market known as Chatuchak market in Bangkok,

the next shop we went into specialized in the more unusual fish that are for sale to hobbyist, in the first aquarium in close up the six barred or tiger striped Distichodus, (Distichodus sexfasciatus), next a baby South American arowana, some very young complete with their yok sac, some more striped fish Chinese hi-fin banded sharks, (Myxocyprinus asiaticus), these grow quite large, next in close up albino polypterus, or Nile bichir as they are known, this one polypterus ornatipinnis, a normal coloured one swims next to and passes the albino, white tipped, ghost or manatee knife fish next (Apteronotus albifrons), lots of them, followed by what will grow the heaviest of them all, known as pirarucu or simply arapaima (arapaima gigas), in contrast, in the next close-up the alligator gar, (Atractosteus spatula), will grow the longest of them all, a few catfish followed by some flag tailed characins, (Semaprochilodus taeniurus), also there a striped fish with lots of stripes on its body, the black banded leporinus, (Leporinus fasciatus), the video ends with some red-tailed characins or Red-Tail Barracuda, (Acestrorhynchus falcatus) as they are sometimes known, crikey what a lot of Latin names! as it happens a number of them have been reclassified since I left the aquatic trade, so this was a good lesson for me to catch up!

I also watched some snooker, and was lucky to see Ding Junhui in the Masters make a 147 break, after my evening meal it was feet up for a BattleBots,

after which a spectacular with The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, a computer generated film fest, if you are into this genre what is there not to like? as it happens it was not until it started I realised I had recently watched it before but it was still very enjoyable, Diana then arrived home so a coffee and a chart as we watched,

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, directed by Guy Ritchie, what could possibly go wrong? absolutely nothing! a real treat to watch, after which we were off to bed.
