but this 26 storey hotel is different from any other, it is not for humans,
it is for pigs! For the last three years, farmers across China have been investing billions of dollars into massive high-rise pig-raising facilities popularly known as a pig hotel, at the end of this month, Zhongxin Kaiwei Modern Farming, a privately-owned company in Hubei, is set to complete a 26-storey pig hotel, claimed to be the largest such structure in the world,
located in Ezhou City, Zhongxin Kaiwei’s massive structure is being touted as the “world’s tallest pig breeding site”. It consists of two 400,000-square-meter buildings, both of which will be equipped with automated feeding machines and smart air filtration and disinfecting systems, as well as a biogas-based waste treatment system that will convert pig manure into clean energy for electricity generation and heating, when construction is complete, China’s largest pig hotel is expected to produce around 54,000 tonnes of pork from a herd of 600,000 a year,
“Compared with traditional pig-raising farms, this saves land and is more environmentally friendly, they save energy and resources” one pig hotel investor claims, but the model remains controversial, apart from the quality of life of its 'guest', if a disease such as African swine flu broke out in a pig hotel it could herald massive losses, a pig hotel? how bizarre!

Alley commented “I am glad I was not born a pig in a pig hotel in China” We agree the quality of life for the pigs 🐷 is probably not the best. All they look forward to is being bacon on someone’s breakfast plate. Interesting times.

Dear John and Alley, I think this will be the first of many 'high rises', there are already similar installations but they are only 3 or 4 stories tall,
as it happens looking at the ground footprint verse the number of animals farmed it does sort of make sense, but as you say, not a great life for a pig, or I guess in a similar vein a chicken, turkey that could also be farmed in a high rise, best regards, Stan and Diana.
