to weaving with paper,
at least that is how artist Gunjan Aylawadi describes her work,
Aylawadi’s technique relies on long curled strips that are
woven and glued in place in a process a bit more like working with textiles rather than with paper,
her works can also be in 3D, rather than just glued to a flat piece of paper,
I have heard of quilling, where paper is rolled into small components and
viewed sideways,
but I do not know what word to use to describe the use of these paper spirals, the work is slow as each piece is
outlined carefully on paper beforehand, although self-taught in art, she also
hold degrees in engineering and product design, Aylawadi’s paper works have
been published in magazines around the world and she’s also shown in a number
of group and solo shows in Sydney where she’s based, Her work was also included
in CODA Paper Art 2015, You can see more on Facebook and by following her on
Instagram, all I need to do now is find out what is the proper name for this form of paper artwork.
