I Have Heard Of The Wall Of Sound,

way back in the 1960/70s,

developed by Phil Spector and the Wrecking Crew, but this is the first time I have heard of a Wall Of Wind, photograph © Florida International University, the Wall of Wind is the world’s largest wind simulator, an impressive contraption capable of generating winds of up to 157 miles per hour (70m/s), comparable to those registered during category 5 hurricanes, in order to better protect against the devastating force of hurricanes, you first have to study them and test various materials against the powerful winds they generate. With this idea in mind, engineers at the International Hurricane Research Centre (IHRC) and College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) at Florida State University spent 15 years building and perfecting the Wall of Wind, an impressive installation capable of replicating hurricane-force winds,

the installation consists of a total of 12 giant fans capable of generating winds of up to 70m/s. For reference, a study showed that trees start to break at wind speeds of 42m/s, regardless of age, diameter, or elastic properties, according to the Florida State University website, “the Wall of Wind facility can test to failure full-sized structures such as site-built or manufactured housing and small commercial structures”, if you have time the video is fascinating, the Wall of Wind, amazing!
